Question Is buying a 2004 G35 Coupe too old?

I've been searching for about a month now to buy an Infiniti G35 Coupe. I've been limiting my searches to 2005-2006 Coupes but I recently came across a 2004 black on black Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe with Aero package and only 45K miles. It's being sold from an Infiniti Dealership too which I feel more comfortable dealing with than a small no-name shop.

Should I get it or keep looking for an 05-06?

I would keep looking for 05-06 if price is fair.

Define "too old" and you have your answer. It's subjective...what's old to you might be brand spanking new to me (like my "new-to-me" 05 sedan with 59k miles.)

if you can get a good deal on it then i say get it....i got an 04 it still drives like a champ....if i were you i would skip the 05 and either look for a sweet deal on an 04 or just get an 06+

for the 04 take in to consideration a few things to offset any deal you think you're getting, are the seats going to be all worn out and if they are is that going to bother you (as in, are you going to want to replace them)

if you plan on modding the 04 do you plan on upgrading to 06 headlights?

and all those minor maintenence things when buyin a used car, again if you're getting a good deal on the 04 that just means more money for mods

Thanks Bayonet. I'm going to check it out in person next Saturday so I'll let you know how it goes. How much does it cost to mod the 04 headlights to 06 ones? Since it's the sport coupe, I'd probably be happy with the stock rims but I'd need to buy an extra set of wheels and snow tires for the winter.

O6's are silly dirt cheap right now. I could literally buy an 05' fully loaded sedan and an 06' coupe for what I paid for mine a year and a half ago. Most people want the nicer interior (available in 05' and 06' coupes). They also upgrade the headlights and taillights (05 tails, 06 heads). Bottom line this cars are being practically given way dirt cheap even with low mileage. I'd say if you want a nice bang for the buck, spring the low $22k that they now cost. I spent waaaaaayyyyy much more than that for mine and absolutely love it. Remember, this cars MSRP'd at $38-39 only a couple of years ago. GL with the hunt.

I would pay the extra $$ and get an 06. There isnt much difference between an 04 and an 05 in terms of appearance, but the 06 had a few upgrades like better headlights and taillights, memory seats and bluetooth handsfree (if i'm not mistaken) I wanted an 06, but came across an 05 at a ridiculously low price. I'm happy with it now, after putting a couple hundred bucks into fixing it up.

Hey thanks for your input. I agree with you and believe me, I'd gladly pay $22k for a fully loaded 2006 with decent mileage. Unfortunately, that's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find right now. I saw in another thread that (a combination from the economy and the summer season) that G35 Coupe prices have increased tremendously, i.e. about $1500 increase on KBB.

Guess I'll keep looking...

Summer is the worst time man to look for a sports coupe.
