Contemplating buying a G35...

Hi All,

I’m contemplating purchasing a pre-owned 2004 G35 2dr coupe in the Toronto area. I had a quick question for the forum members here; how does the car run on regular unleaded vs premium? I know I know, one shouldn’t buy a car if you can’t afford to maintain it properly. For the record, it’s not a matter of me not being able to take care of the car properly, I just want to obtain an understanding of what is the risk. I’ve read mixed answers on the web, but most of what I’ve read seems to suggest that it is okay because of the knock sensor, however it is not recommended. So like I said, I’d like to know what is the risk, and I’m sure there are some very qualified opinions on this forum.

My previous car was a 1998 mazda 626 which was totaled in an unfortunate rearending accident last week, so this would certainly be an upgrade. I look forward to being a G35 owner and hope the deal I’m looking at will work out well. I appreciate any input you guys can provide. Thanks!

Honestly all I've ever put in all my cars is premium. I don't see a difference in terms of price since the price differences is what (20-30 cents) that barely effects your overall total.

Like what many people say, if you can afford a G, you can afford premium, and with what I add onto that: premium, won't hurt it right? will unleaded? who knows, but why not get the better/best of the bunch?

Do not run the engine on regular. This engine is a high performance engine and regular could cause knock and other issues.

Also, I have an 04 Coupe for sale in the GTA...!

Well, at .20/gallon difference, filling up with premium can cost about ~$3 more. I sure wouldn't do it myself, but I guess some people are hard up?
