Thinking about buying: 04 6MT vs. 06 5AT
I'm looking into G35's....
The OC issue is unfortunately really shying me away from getting an 06 6MT. The 04 6MT doesn't really seem to have the same OC issue, and I really want a 6MT. At the same time, I think the 06 looks better than the 04 with the upgraded interior, headlights, bumpers, tails.
Opinions from your personal experiences? Which might be more "worth" it?

You can always change the headlight, tails, and bumper on the 04.
The interior won't be easy, but I really don't think the 06 is that much better than the 04 inside, assuming you find a clean 04.

However, if I do witness any loss of oil between oil changes, I will definately keep everyone posted and /or post my reply on the oil consumption topic here in the forums to let share my experience.
It is your time and money. IT really depends on you, Viper. IF I had to choose, I would choose a 6mt.
Not quite that simple. Better headlights, taillights, upgraded interior, high quality 19's, bluetooth capacity. And last but not least, since it will cost you more, a significantly higher resale value. BTW, also, even without paying the xtra $ for one, it will more likely than not, still be under the manufacturer's 4 year/48K warranty. I also own a 2K SE Max as a DD, onw of my buddies had a 2K3 6mt. G, my the interior on my Max looked better than his. Test drive and check several differnt cars out before dropping $$$$ on a car. That's just my $.02 and also, the reason that I didn't take the plunge on the older models when the car came out. The OC is not a problem that affets all 06' cars.
if having a MT is not that big of deal then the 06 would be my pick! just be patient and you can find a 06 MT as well!

I have an 06' 6MT and have had no issues with oil consumption. I have about 33k miles on my car now. I believe it really depends on the date the car was made because the dealership told me that its really by vin number.
I have an 06 6MT and I am currently going through the OC testing.
That being said I would still choose my 06' over the 04' due to same reasons explained above.
FYI- Even if you exceed the 4yr warranty the OC prob is covered by the 7yr/70k drivetrain warranty.

05-07 6MT's is the way to go.
As long as you have warranty (which 95% of revups should still to this day), you shouldn't be too worried about the OC. The worst that can happen is you end up with a new revised engine.

New engines sound awesome. Except that I don't want to fathom the fact of some tech at a dealership replacing my engine. I've known many techs - they don't exactly care much about your car or are necessarily the smartest people. And I live far from an Infiniti dealership - not exactly easy in case I have issues. Over and over and over again. Or get stranded on the side of the road. I may keep looking at 04 6MT's. Might save me some coin too, even though the 06 6MT is nicer but riskier. Kinda like the hot girl you took home from the club but you're all out of roller coaster tickets.
