got your attention didn't i?... Ok.. here's the story.. i love my baby G soo much but every time i get a ding it pisses the hell outta me... and this past weekend, I got another ding on the exact opposite side of my last ding, which I fixed myself... Now i'm soo pissed that I want to sell my car =(

dont park next to people.... i have been successful in only having to park next to another car ONCE in the G in the two months that ive had it... well i guess prolly like 5 times, but the other times i would park in between my friends. I have NO dings and no chips... but i have only had my car for 2 months or so....so i guess we'll see how my car does

Well, any car your going to get dings. The nicer the car, i believe is more prone to get dings. Its a losing battle as stated above. But hey, any car you get its going to happen to. Plus, the G is such a hot car, it could be keyed and still look sexy. So unless you want to be driving around in the new saturn with dent resistant side panes (cough, er plastic) Just suck it up and keep on driving.

Unfortunately, you have the same philosophy as a lot of gear heads and it will only lead you to constant dissapointment (imo). I don't let any of that stuff bother me, my car is going to get dings and scratches, etc. etc. I bought my car to use it, not to keep it in a glass case.

I have a friend with a mercedes suv and she treats it like it's a fragile antique. It's an suv and we slow down to 1mph to go over speed bumps; it's pathetic. Like everyone says, it's a losing battle... so why keep the same mindset? I dont like it when people get in my car and they're afraid to sit in it or get fingerprints on something. I always tell them don't worry it's a car it's going to get used... that is what I bought it. There have been more than few sighs of relief after telling my passengers that.

I concur w/ Nate. It used to be a huge deal for me but I've come to realize there really isn't anything you can do to stop it from happening. Dings, scratches, etc are unavoidable, there are a lot of careless people/*******s out there.

How about group buy on color infused plastic door panels like those Saturns? Maybe we should get all of G35 body panels custom made with flexible plastic, shave a good 200-300lbs and dent resistant!

Not many people get this but it's really easy .. Park over two spots!

If you put your G at a diagnol over two spots (it usually fits right in) then it is nearly impossible to get dings. I figure the worst thing that can happen is you get a parking ticket.

No, don't park in two spaces or diagonnally. People get pissed off and they might key your car. That would be worse than a ding!

If you put the plastic stripe thing on the doors (avail at dealer) it would catch a lot of crap instead of the sheetmetal

Unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do to be 100%, but I always park about a mile away....of course, about a third of the time that I do, some idiot parks next to me (40 other available spots, and they have to be right next to me!). I guess it's a compliment....
