Need info before ordering
Hello,
Well I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on ordering a G35c 6MT Aero. I wanted to ask a few questions before I actually headed to the dealership to place the order. I apologize if I seem overly cautious but this will be the first NEW car I've ever owned and by far the most expensive (I currently drive a '93 Acura Integra that I paid 7,500.00 for a few years ago).
1. Chrome Wheels - I've heard that some infiniti dealerships will offer a chrome wheel option (not the regular highly polished alloy), is this true? I've sent an email to a copule of members who have rides posted with the 18" wheels that are chrome but have not heard back from as of yet. If infiniti does not offer that option, are there places that can dip them in chrome for me? I must have chrome on my DG G35c.
2. Placing the order - I went to the dealership last week and they said the wait is 60 days, but all the posts on here seem to indicate a much longer wait. When placing the order do they guarantee delivery by a certain date? I certainly don't want to wait more than 2-3 months, otherwise I think I might as well wait for the 2004. But i'm not sure if the 2004 will be available in august or december? Also, when you place the order do you lock down on the price there or do you have to wait until the car actually comes in? I guess it doesnt matter because they probably will not bargain on it, but maybe I can get some accessories thrown in, just not sure when this negotiating would happen ?
3. Satellite Radio - on the dealer websites it's listed as an option, but other people have told me it's standard? I"ve also read some posts on here that you can't use the "Satellite" button on the stereo. I'm basically wanting to get every single option except for navigation.
I'm in the Virginia area by the way near DC, so if anyone has any experiences with any of the dealerships in the DC area, I'd love to hear it. I'd be willing to travel to PA as well if I could get one sooner.
Thanks in advance for any info or advice you can offer,
Cyc.

OK:
The chrome wheels are not a factory option. You have to have a shop dip the OEM wheels in chrome for you. Some dealerships are offering this to thier customers. If yours does not, then you can find places that will.
Orders for a 6MT will likely take longer than 60 days from what I am hearing. You may want to search Infiniti's dealer inventory to see if one is available. That is how I got my 5AT back in November without ordering. From what I have heard, the odering process is basically MSRP for whatever options you want. You always put down at least a $1000 deposit which should be refundable.
No one knows anything about the 2004 model yet.
Satellite Radio. If your order yours now, it should be prewired and you have to order the reciever. Your dealer may be able to help you there. Early cars where supposed to be pre-wired for it, but apparently that never happened. A while back, there was a post from someone who did the wiring and installed the reciever, and he had instructions. So it is possible.

Hey Cyc welcome to the forum,
Chrome dipping doesnt cost more than $150/wheel usually $500 overall, some dealerships will get it done for you (they send it to some wheel shop) some dealerships wont do it and say that it voids warranty, so be careful with that
60 day wait sounds about right for a 6spd, that is, 60 days until they place the order, meaning add another 90 days until delivery.
If they order it beginning of May, then it will go into production in June, and then delivered by the end of July soonest or Early August most likely because you are so far on the east coast.
So you are looking at a 5 month wait in reality. I had to wait 6 months, it wasnt so bad, ok yah it sucked but i got thru it just fine haha
The wait also allowed me to save up 10 grand for a down payment.
So if you can wait 5 months, go ahead and order it, if you can only wait 2 months, then your best bet is to head over to the corporate website (www.infiniti.com) and search for dealership inventory within 150 miles of your home. I'm sure it will be well worth the trip if you find a DG 6MT/premium/aero
So just call up the dealership that has it in stock and set up an appointment.
This is what I propose that you do:
1 - Pay the $500 REFUNDABLE deposit to your dealership and order the car.
2 - Every week for the next couple months, check dealership inventory online and try to find a match.
3 - If you find a match, proceed and then once you get the car, go to your salesman and ask for the $500 back (since its refundable).
Good luck!

Re: Need info before ordering
Well i went ahead and placed the order but I did find one dealership that has a G35C DG Aero 6MT with Navigation that the person has already backed out of.. the order was placed on 1/27/03, so it should be here in four weeks according the dealer.. anyway i have dibs on that car but I dont really want to pay extra for navigation, in any case the sales lady is still goign to see if she can find me a DG without navi prior to it arriving.. she said alot of the other dealers get cars in where people back out and they can have the car transferred or something... i guess im going to have to pay the MSRP but im going to push hard for 2 years worth of free oil changes.

Re: Need info before ordering
I got the bose system which has the satellite button, BUT you have to subscribe to XM satellite or Cirrus which costs about 12 bucks a month.
Chrome wheels are not standard.
