Just bought a used 2007 G35 6MT coupe! Love it.
I am new to Infiniti and new to the G35 world. But I love this car, it is a blast to drive and elegant to boot. Pure driver's car. It's 6MT, sport, with bluetooth, no navi.
Few problems though on her, maybe you guys here can help me out before I go to the dealership.
One - I hear this very tiny 'chirp' sound when I push the gas pedal down, usually while shifting. It's so subtle, that I only really hear it if I'm listening for it, or if I'm close to things so I can hear it more (next to walls/cars etc), and when windows are down. Not sure what that is.
Two - I know there's an oil consumption problem on these cars. But I am down to about the 1/4th mark. I forgot to check when I first got her, but I was around the 1/2 mark few weeks ago. I'm already at the 3000mile mark now, so it's time for an oil change anyway. Should I worry about this?
Three - I hear this ticking coming from seemingly the right side of the car when my windows are down and I'm next to a wall or cars so I can hear the sound. It's usually in first or second gear, it sounds tension related like the more I push on the gas pedal the more I hear the ticking, but the less push I give the less I hear it. Especially when I'm pulling away from a stop in 1st gear is most noticeable. And as well as slowing down somewhat abruptly in gear, like letting off the gas quick I'll hear it tick a little bit again. It's usually in the 1k to 3k rpm range, it usually goes away by 3krpms. It's really annoying.
Four - Oh, also when I have the e-brake engaged, and the car moves a little bit, like me getting in the car or whatever, I'll hear sharp squeaking. What's that?
I appreciate any help! Thanks.

Read up on Rear Axle Click. Just search for it. This sounds like it may diagnose one of your problems. If your car is an 2007 I'd just take it to the dealership. These problems all sound like they can be repaired under warranty. Make sure when you go to the dealership you can reproduce all of these noises.
Thanks, yeah I have extended warranty as well when I bought it.
I'm just curious where all the noises are coming from in the mean time, because sometimes dealerships don't "hear" them. And if I should worry about the oil consumption.

The Chirp you hear is your intake sucking in air. I have the stock intake and airbox. The only mod i have is a K and N drop in and i can hear the chirp from the intake valve sucking in air! Usually you can hear it above 3k RPM from second gear up!

Glad I'm not the only one that hears it. I just didn't think it was the intake, thought intake should make more of a swooshing sound like when sitting at idle instead of a little chirp. My setup is still completely stock even the filter. But yeah you're right I only hear it when I'm driving and shifting so yeah its about the 3k rpm spot, or keeping it in gear at a high rpm.
