Best year for the G35 coupe
#31
I say 04, I've been looking for 1 for so long, but so hard to find exactly what i want...
My reasons for 04:
1, I don't get 03 cuz it's 1st yr model, I NEVER want 1st yr model.
2, Last yr of Brembo, as all u guys know, 05 got "facelift", as climate control differences, no brembo
3, I rather have 11HP less, point is, I want that TQ.
4, I don't really like the 06 tail light, as they got the trunk button on the left light.
5, I just want a 04, PERIOD.
Just for ppl who wanna know...I ONLY want OB, 04, stick, brembo, low km.
(which I don't know why its so hard to find 1...damn it...)

OP:
I say the 03-04 models are the best. I personally like the standard DE engine better because of more low end torque. Not a fan of the RevUp motor due to too many people with oil consumption issues. Like I said my original motor went 104,000 miles without a problem, and it ran strong till the day I yanked it out for a built Cosworth VQ35DE.
As far as interior goes...well I would say it was ok when it came out, but it is definetly outdated...on the otherside the 05-07 interiors do not thrill me either, and it is safe to say I did not buy the car for interior appeal. As far as body modifications you can always switch headlights and tail lights for the updated versions...personally I like the 03-04 tail lights better, but I do like the 06+ headlamps better so I switched to those. Brembos are a plus too (if you get a 6MT), and IMHO look better than the Akebono brakes.
The cool thing about the G35 coupe no matter what year you have, bottom line it is a great platform to modd. The aftermarket is rich with visual upgrades, wheel selections, and performance enhancements. Take your pick and make it your own. My .02

Considering all the G35 coupes eat tires, rattle, and have weak paint and window motors, the big plus for the 03 and 04s is that they do not consume oil! That is a big plus considering the expense involved. Yes the interiors are quite mundane, but it's a tradeoff. Good luck with whatever year you choose. It is still a great car and definitely a great value for the money spent.

06 6MT sport. as is. i dunno, i personally like the new spoiler, but really thats the only point of contention versus the other years. the OEM 19" forged rays are just about the sweetest stock wheels to ever come on a car. plus the better interior, exterior, headlights, and REVUP engine... cant beat it!
alright, 07's are good too. but theres no difference from 06's, except theyre more expensive.

Wiser words have never been written around here. You're going to get and 04' and upgrade the headlights, taillights, try to do an interior swap, have to replace all the brakes, wheels and tires. Waaaaayyy too much money and work. Might as well pay a premium upfront and get it all done for you in a package and just mod the bad-boy. That's what I did.

I'd go for the first two years of production just because of the motor issues with the rev-up. Although both look sexy, I can't comment on the interior for either of the v35 years. Reason being is when you get into the car, it doesn't seem like Nissan knew what they wanted it to be, Sports car? Or Luxury Coupe? IMO, they succeeded in being more of a sports car than a luxury coupe. Hence why the interior seems much more of an after thought than the actual mechanics of the vehicle.
The new G37 vs the 370z though is a clear distinction rather than the similar traits the g35 and the 350 had.

+1 on 2003 mine is at 80k kms and no oil issue or anything else. but i agree i like the dashboard +projector on later models. however still happy with my choice.
this is one sexy car, even mine is now 6 years old, a cop asked me if it was new, i guess washing every week and keeping it underground helps
