Lowering info...

I searched and didn't really find what i needed to know. I think I wanna lower my g35 coupe 6mt 2003 since I have new 20s on it. I will be going with Tein Springs, but do I need to get anything other than them and rear camber kit? What rear camber kits are good, and what should I avoid?

Is keeping the stock shocks and struts a bad idea, or does this matter very little?

You don't need a camber kit if you are going to lower your car on springs.

I have a set of Tein springs for a sedan -bigger drop - on sale in the classifieds section.

Most people go with Tein or Eibach springs.

you may need a camber kit if you lower on springs, it how low you lower the car.

most people run spc rear camber kits with toe bolts.

If he wants his tires to last, then he will want to get camber correction kits. Regardless of how a car is dropped, springs or coilovers, dropping a car will increase camber to some extent. How much is the question.

The SPC/Eibach rear camber kit (with toe bolts) can be had for ~$175. This kit will allow you to get back into spec in the rear.

The fronts are more expensive and most people choose to live with the added camber. I'd suggest SPL (no SPC) or 350evo (the former is cheaper and gets the job done correctly).

when you reference increased camber, you actually mean increased negative camber right?

I got the Tenabe NF210s and it doesn't require a camber kit.. Dropped me 1" in the front and .6" in the rear.. I have 20s as well.. Great conservative drop for my daily driver.. I've had my alignment done as well to ensure that I could get back to spec w/out a camber kit..

Here's some very bad advice! Go ahead, install your Tein H Tech springs and have your G35 aligned....you can't there's very little adjust ability in our suspensions. Without the camber kit & adjustable a-arms you'll be buying new tires at least every year....if not sooner! My tires cost $400+ each and I'm not willing to spend $2K a year on tires when a few extra parts and a correct alignment will fix the problem....

After seeing yours I may go with those springs. I only want a modest drop, and I really like how your car sits. And you were able to stay in spec alignment? Double win.

Yeah.. went to NTB to get alignment.. and they warranty their work for 6 months.. So I'm going back in another month or so to ensure that it's still w/in spec range.. They actually have a readout that will tell you via computer if your car requires a camber kit.. When I got my first alignment done after the spring intall (waited a week to let them settle) The computer said no extra hard ware was needed..

The NF210s are so close to stock spring rates, that's why I got them.. They're even marketed to not need any extra hardware.. They're not extreme and don't lower your car more than an 1". W/ 20s you can get away w/ a very conservativev drop (just enough to fill the wheel well) and it looks great.. But you don't need all the extra hardware... If you go down to 19s you might still need to lower more, but w/ 20s you're fine..
