Then why do you come to this forum? Most people come here to get info on the car and modify it.

I disagree. The "Technical and Modification" forum is for discussing modifying the car. Well it's half for that, if you want to get Technical. There's also a "show people your wheels" forum.

There are plenty of other things to discuss besides "where do I get clear corners," such as ownership and maintenance issues, maximizing the stock performance through driving skill, upcoming changes to the model, understanding how the G's computer works, etc.

Maybe there should be a specific forum for exterior modifications, as opposed to engine/transmission/exhaust (wheels and suspension already has its own forum). I think these sorts of arguments are only going to become more frequent and ugly, and it's almost exclusively the exterior stuff that draws battle lines.

I have NO problem with mods, and I was kinda of just jabbing you guys with the rice comment. But, I would hope that whatever you do would be tatseful. I would hope that we could maintain a level of class above your average honda owner out there.

Re: debadging your car

..OK, maybe rims weren't the best example. My point being, that some (not ALL) folks out there think putting 18" rims on a Civic (for EXAMPLE) makes their car faster, and better. I already have beautiful 18" rims on my car, I simply don't understand why I'd want to go out and buy another set? But that's just me - I guess have the analogy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

As far as debadging, maybe you guys just have more money than I do. Sure, if I owned a car in the low 20's, maybe I would debadge it? Because almost everyone out there owns a car in the 20's, and I suppose debadging it would make it "different". But when I just walked out the door of a dealership with $38K less in my pocket (some of which to pay for the "Infiniti name") the last thing to enter my mind is to do anything do modify the look of the car. Just my humble opinion I guess.

Re: debadging your car

Look at it this way, KDog: if people are going to put clear tail lights and gigantic spoilers on their G35 anyway, would you rather they do it with or without the Infiniti badges that apparently hold value to you?

Being admittedly more towards the snobby end of the spectrum myself, I'm all in favor of the exterior Mod Squad de-badging. Re-badging as a Nissan Skyline or something else would be even better. Then they get to have their spoilers unspoiled and you get to preserve the elitism of your badge. Everyone's happy. Is that not the best possible compromise?

ReDRoK8,

I too am interested in seeing pictures of the back end debadged, but it doesn't appear the rides section has your debaged pictures...unless of course I'm just blind...

Any chance you can upload some new pics?

Thanks!

Re: debadging your car

I think you guys forgot to mention that debadging is a very german/european thing. With everyone in german driving european cars which look very similar and can only be distinguished by there badge, it was a common thing for people to remove there badges to disguise which model they had. Not to mention it really cleans up the car nicely.

Re: debadging your car

I was told by my friends father whom works for BMW that badging is a limited thing in europe. He hates it so much and agrees with me that less is better cu'z it can ruin the lines of the car. He told me adding all those extra emblems was a purely american thing and detested over there. I agree fully.

Re: debadging your car

6t8stang, I gave my G her first wash since the new tint was applied last night. I then took several pictures including the missing badges on the back. I will upload them tonight if I get a chance. Peace

Re: debadging your car

I dunno...maybe it's just because I've seen badged cars everywhere but cars without them seem almost naked...
