automatic launching
automatic launching
hey guys, what would you say is the best most effective/safest way to launch an automatic g37s for racing purposes (try hard to refrain from making "why didnt you just buy a manual" comments)
any advice is greatly appreciated

ok Joe heres the deal. use your left foot and hold down the brake and rev up to about 1500 to 2k. What thats called is loading, most older Mopars that are automatic have to do that. When the last light turns yellow, release the brake and punch the gas. It shaved almost 1 second of my quarter mile time.

I love the people that childishly said "step on the gas" because he said " how do I launch the car" not how do I make the car move.

this will produce a LOT of heat. only do this for about 5 seconds.
heat is a transmissions biggest enemy. I would install another tranny cooler.
the actual launch however wont be as hard on your driveline components and engine mounts as you may think. the sudden shock of dropping a clutch will put far more stress on components than an automatic thats already in gear.
if you plan on doing this often, along with the additional cooler I would install a tranmission oil temp gauge, as well as keep a close eye on the condition of the transmission fluid.

Glad people answered this guys question finally. And some of us wonder why people hate guys who drive G35's I wonder why.
I would do exactly what flipmagick said. Good luck and dont do it to much unless you have a trans cooler.

ok so while the car is in drive, i hold down the brake completely stopped at the line, then hit the gas simultaneously to rev up to between 1500 and 3000 rpms, once ther i keep the gas pedal down far enough to maintain 1500-3000 rpms while quickly releasing the brake, then proceeding to press the pedal fully down. (entire process should be completed within 2-3 seconds, so i should start reving about 3 secs b4 the race begins)
so does this all sound like correct comprehension of the process?
