See the 255 size tires in 18" show 8-9.5 wheel. 8" is fine.
I also know people who have 275 wide tires on 18x8 rims and RACE at the tracks with them with no issues period. Street driving would even be easier on the tires.

The general rule is your tire shouldn't be more than 2 inches wider than the wheel it's going on. 10" = 254mm so a 255 width tire is technically more than 2" wider, but we're only talking about 1mm. A 255 will work just fine on an 8" wheel. The 245 max on an 8" wheel is just a manufacturer's ultra-safe suggestion, just as the 255 max on an 8.5" is. Your friend who's running 275's on an 8" wheel is also doing it under specific circumstances, i.e. at a track, where road conditions are much better than a daily driver would encounter, and he's not expecting 10's of thousands of miles out of them. He may be running the car harder at the track, but road conditions are much worse in the real world. If he ran that same setup daily on the road, his sidewalls and bead would eventually fail.

That's the point of the thread, "Don't waste your $ on cheap tires!" Buy tires that will last within reason, if you get 30K miles from your tires and have zero issues with being out of control because of a little rain consider those tires a good buy. Originally Posted by LightsOut

Sorry to say but Road Conditions on a track and way worse than they are on the street when you are pushing 100+ mph, taking turns at the full limits of the tires, getting them extremely hot. Well you could put 255 or 275 on a 8 width wheel its your vehicle. Just cause you posted that site doesnt mean much cause I could find sites that say 255 is to wide.
255 is to wide and I don't agree with you. Many here run 275 with there 8.5 and don't have any issues but they know its not safe and take those chances.
so your right 255 will work on the wheel but its not recomended or will many installers will not put that tire size on.
