Tint Ticket at Night!!

I was parked downtown Chicago last night and go a $250 dollar ticket at NIGHT for tinted windows. How would a meter maid be able to distinguish if the window were tinted at night?? I am going to fight this ticket until my fingers bleed. Any suggestions?

Best yet is my meter didn’t run out so that ______ was looking for something to ticket me with.

How did they test? The testers here require the window to be partially down so that the test unit can slip over both sides of the window.

Chicago is terrible... that's why I try not to drive my G down there... good luck with the fight... as long as the governor doesn't veto the new tint bill, this may not be a problem in a week or so

You got a tint ticket at night, and you weren't even in the car at the time? It was parked? ROFL what a dumba$$ metermaid. I guess he/she had nothing better to do.

I was downtown last week for lunch and a cop pulled up next to me and told me that the ticket for tints went up to $250. I was just glad that he did not write me one. This new fine sux, Daley must be really hurting for money.

I don't know what are the particular tint laws in Chicago, but in San Francisco, meter maids frequently hand out citations for tint and no front plate. In California, no tint is allowed on front windows.

It is quite easy to spot dark tint at night. I can easily distinguish between my 20% and my brothers 35%.

LoL, unless the maid had one of these on your window

Then there aint no way in hell they could get a reading.

edited: nvm... looks like theres another device that can be used as well...
http://www.promotorcarproducts.com/d...tint-meter.htm

edited again: nvm again... after watching the how to video that goes with that tester, you actually have to have access to the interior of the car to get a reading. So... yea that meter maid is full of ****.

I'm from the bay too, my dad owns an 08' bullitt mutang, and i have an 04 G, neither of us have front plates, reasoning? "they didn't put screw mounts there, obviously its because they dont want the car to look ugly"

That will be our defense if fined.

LoL, if thats your defense, enjoy the added points to your license (it IS a moving violation) and your loss in court.

625 ILCS 5/12-503. Windshields must be unobstructed and equipped with wipers.

(a) No person shall drive a motor vehicle with any sign, poster, window application, reflective material, nonreflective material or tinted film upon the front windshield, sidewings or side windows immediately adjacent to each side of the driver.

PLUS

usually does the trick. No need to call out the Detectives on this one.

That tint law quote above is not for NE. Also, the license plate thing IS a moving violation here in NE. I have 2 friends who got nailed for it. One was in his 09 BMW and one was in a vette.

Actually, 5% tint is usually considered "limo tint". That means that only 5% of the light gets through.
