What would you do if your engine blew tomorrow!
What would you do if your engine blew tomorrow!
I'm always thinking of what I will do one day when my VQDE wears out.
Aside from the extreme, which route would you go:
1) Replace with any old VQ from Altima, Maxima, etc
2) Replace with VQDE from G35
3) Replace with VQDE from 350Z
4) Replace with 298hp Rev Up from G35
5) Replace with 306hp VQHR from G35 Sedan or 350Z
Has anyone done a 306hp, dual throttle body conversion? That engine is really nice.

The HR conversion would be rediculously expensive, might as well go with an LS6. Yes, it's a VQ, but they are very different.
2 and 3 are the same engine.
4 is not the HR engine, but rather the REVUP
5 is the HR engine
Why not build it or bore/stroke it (3.9 or 4.1L).

This sums it up:
THIRTEEN YEARS AND FOUR GENERATIONS after its U.S. launch for the '95 model year, a single word summarizes the enormous impact of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s VQ architecture: benchmark.
Which is why the VQ has won plenty of awards over the past decade.

Why do you think this would be so expensive to drop in the whole engine/computer? Sure, it would cost more than just dropping in another DE, but aside from some movement of item to allow for the dual breathers, do you think it is possible with the help of a friend who is a GTR mechanic with shop access?
i have seen pictures video of 3, 350z swaps

one member posted his build and used the parts from hinson,
sikky manufacturing is also working on a kit, but it is not completed.

I'd go with none of the options and rebuild the DE. Doing a VQHR swap will cost you at the minimum of 10k. With all that money, I can get myself a nicely built stroker VQ which probably outputs far better than the HR and reliable.
