Clutch stuck and smell

Recently my clutch has been getting stuck halfway, or pulling itself all the way down which scared me. Sometimes I would get this terrible burning smell which freaked me out. I read on the forums my problems are pretty common. Well today I took it to the dealer and they took a look at it. They said the clutch problem was the master cylinder. The mechanic told me he gets a bunch of Gs that have this problem. Now for the smell, they said it was my differential leaking and they are going to have to replace it . My warranty expires in three days. All this is covered thank goodness. I'll update with the result soon. I get my car back in three days.

What year is your G and how many miles do you have on it? Reason i ask is my bumper to bumper expired...but i still have my powertrain warranty. will this cover it?

Its a 2005 with only 28500 miles. I specifically asked her if the powertrain warranty covered this, and she said yes. So no worries until it expires...

the burning smell your talking about.. was it noticible getting out of the car, or do you have to smell under the car to really notice?. Because my g has been doing that lately

I could smell from inside the car if I had the windows open.

Oh man, my first G coupe did that. Never did find out what caused it, just traded it in for an IP coupe.

I remember that smell too, holy fvck, smell gets stuck in your throat.

master cylinder is correct. I found that it's an easy fix that the dealer seems to overlook. Their solution is to replace the master cylinder.

You can spray some lubricant to the boot area, seems that it gets stuck when least expected and give you the symptoms of the clutch not completely disengaging.

Well I got my car back, and I could totally feel a more responsive and smoother shift. And the burning smell is gone. Hope this helps anyone who may have the same problem.

mine did that, asked them to replace the slave and master under warranty, they said it was the clutch...the warrantied the flywheel. I just went after market and replaced everything..its fine now. But oh I remember that smell.
