k&n air filter re-oiling - how long to wait on oil to dry before I can install agian?

Hey all,
I cleaned my k&n panel filter, and oiled it this evening approximately 3 hours ago. How long should I wait for the filter to dry before I can reinstall? K&N's site is saying only 1 hour, but that seems too quick.

thanks

I've put it back on within 30 mins. Just make sure you didn't over do it because I've heard many members complain the MAF sensor being easily be tripped.

If you put to much on it will get sucked in the intake and give the maf sensor a nice coat of oil.

If you think you over-oiled it, of course let it sit a little longer.
Like he said let it dry out in the sun......

How long should you let it dry after using the cleaner and rinsing with water?

Depends on the ambient temp and humidity, but to be safe I would leave it for about 24 hours after the rinse. I left it over night after oiling before reinstallation.

allowing it to fully dry after rinsing it is the most important part. If it is still wet when you reoil the oil wont soak into the element, it will just sit on top.

If it is dry the oil soaks right in and can be installed almost immediatly.

All good advice.

Agreed, you just need a super light coat of oil on it. Too much and you will be into costly repairs of the MAF and potentially a sticky throttle body valve as well.
