Talking New motor...!!!

Hello everyone,
I just want to share my experience on getting a new motor.
i purchased mine on September 2008. it is 2005 g35c 6MT as you can see in my signature.
on may 2009 i noticed a knocking sound from the engine bay when i turned it on in the morning i immediately turned off the engine and checked the oil and i notice that the oil was low. then i added some oil and went to the dealer here in Ottawa/Canada. I asked for the oil consumption test and they changed my oil and checked the level, after 1000kms i went back for that and some other warranty work. they have given me 2009 EX for loaner for a day and the next day they have told me that my car has failed the consumption test and i will get a new long block from infiniti.
yes, it was that easy, i was so surprised and ofcourse happy for getting a new engine on 80.000kms.
i got it replaced on may 29th and they told me that i should not go over 3000-4000 rpm for the first 4000-5000kms.. isn't that alot of kms for breaking in? is there anything i should be careful when i am breaking in a new motor?
2 days after i got the new motor i left for vacation and couldn't drive my car yet, since i am still out of country.
i have some questions to the owners of a new long block, are there any special things that i should do for the first thousand kms? should i change my oil early? should i start using synthetic oil since the first oil change?
and any other advices would be appreciated
thanks

Use synthetic it's best to use from day one.

It's a little bit over kill on the break in. But when breaking in an engine there is really no such thing as over kill. Be gentle with it from day one and it will last forever.

I just got one too. My dealership told me not to exceed 3000 rpm for the first 500 miles. Thats all. Just passed 500 today and it is nice to be able to not have to shift like a granny anymore.

LMAO drive it like you stole it. I got mine about a month ago. They told me to not drive past 4k for 7500 miles. I drive alot so I should be there in another 4 months. No Biggy. Sucks that everyone wants to race and it just ticks me off when I take off in second and cant go faster than my brothers bone stock '00 EK. I love my baby though.

I think our car manual states it somewhere on how many miles we should drive for break in.

You just break it in for 1200 miles. Dont go over 4k rpm
Change the oil at the first 1000 miles

hey so if your car is not under warranty, if your car has oil consumption is it still covered?

i've heard both sides. some say it's covered some say it isn't.

it is funny how every dealership says different thing about breaking in.
mine said 5000kms yours said only 500 miles and Ace198920's dealership said 7500 miles,
i guess they don't even know how many miles or kms it is suppose to be. becase what they told us are not even close to each other.

i don't think you will get a new engine unless it is still covered under warranty.

I thought TSBs didn't apply to warranties?

From what I understand, you have to, have had on record with the dealer, some kind of problem with the engine while it is still under the powertrain warranty to get a new engine. Also, your going to need records of oil changes every couple thousand miles. I was fortunate to have those from the previous owner on file.

if your under warranty they will cover it
if you dont have oil change records they will sometimes give you a hard time.

**I had that problem! the previous owner didnt take the car to the dealer for oil changes. So the dealer i went too for OC test said i qualified but they need service records(oil changes) or infiniti will deny it.

went to riverside infiniti and the service manager ask the previous owner the history he said it was change every 3000miles religiously. Also the service manager called corporate and they said drop the oil pan and take out the valver covers and check for sludge. luckily mine desnt have sludge so i got the OK. after 5 days my new engine came
