Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I am also a owner of a 4th gen. Camaro. These cars are two totally different animals, that is one of the many things that attracted me to the g. It has a fine mixture of luxury and performance. Don't get me wrong dollar for mod the Camaro will beat the g any day of the week and twice on sunday except in a turn....just can't beat cubic inches. God I'm glad I have both.

haha thats what i love about the m3, 3.2 liter inline 6 and it can hang right with the american muscle 5.7 liter V8's and can usually pull them until triple digit speeds.

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

Danny G,you have the SS. That IS without a doubt more of a "true sports car" than the G in my opinion.
However, I was amazed at this guys(not my friend by the way) reasoning based on weight lack of torque etc. This guy doesn't have an SS he has a regular V8.
He says the G is heavy at @ 3300 - 3400 lbs when the Camaro is even heavier. He also implied that the G was not engeered toward sporty performance and the Camaro was. yet the G is on an FM platform while the Camaro is not. The Camaro is not a bad performer, but I think that one who says that the Camaro is a true sports car and the G is not is underinformed. I think that the G is just as much of a sports car as a Camaro.

This one is easy to settle. Just go out to town and when you spot some hot chicks, ask them which car they prefer. :P

The camaro with no doubt has great acceleration for straight line, but is a boat and feels like a 40ft one when not going in a straight line haha.

Have you driven one? Like I said in a previous post, they are not that bad. Anyway, guys, who cares what other people think of our cars, which one is a sports car, etc. Hell if you want to get technical , hell the Dodge Magnum RT is a frickin' station wagon and it will hand some "sports cars" their asses. I don't care what people think of my G or my camaro. To each their own.

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I think that the Camaro probably looks better sitting in front of his trailer than a G35 does. With a G his neighbors will think he is trying to be like dem rooting tooting city folk...

It's wonderful to have options. 1/4 mle killing Camaro or curve cutting G. Life is good.

Yeah! It must be nice to have the best of both worlds. Hey Daniel_G, I'd like to see some better pics of your SS, and some numbers, I mean NUMBERS! How about it? Inquiring minds want to know. I would die if I had both the SS and G in my garage. Must be nice.

It is nice. I'll try to update my photo album soon. The SS needs a bath very bad. Just sitting in the garage. I need to take her out. Here is a shot of my last dyno run on the SS

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

100% agree!! Throughout this entire post, there have only been two (2!!) true sports cars mentioned. 350Z and Corvette. None of the others, including G35's, Camero's, S4's, M3's etc.. are true sports cars. All the others are Sports coupes, with the exception of the S4, which is 4-door if I'm not mistaken. That's a sports sedan, like the M5. A few years back all the major automotive publications actually got together to help clarify the classification of these cars, and stated what is, and what is not, a true sports car.

This sounds like something straight off the IS300 message boards!!

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

Doesn't anybody think that it sucks that the word "Camaro" even comes up when talking about the G35 coupe. That's what I hate most about this car . . . No prestige whatsoever.

The G35 was supposed to be on the same level as Audi, BMW, Saab, etc. But it's turned into the new Mitsubishi 3000GT or worse yet Starion.

This was supposed to be a mature car with sports car qualities. But, as it turned out, it's a sports car for kids . . .

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I also own a '95 Z-28 along with G35 MT. The G handling is more nimble and precise. The Z, with decent tires on it, handles quite well, but it takes a different set of driver inputs to make it perform well. For instance, you can use torque induced over steer in the Z to really dive into a turn (your underwear will need changing) while the G requires a smoother line. If you have never driven a 5.7L V-8, you will never experience the smile that comes over your face when you get on the throttle.
