G35 not as sporty as Camaro

A (2000?) Camaro Z28 driver stated that the Camaro was more of a true sports car than the G35 because the G35 focused too much on luxury. He also stated that the G35 lacks torque (in general/ not compared to a Camaro) and is slow in the quarter mile. He also noted the heaviness of the G35 (as if the Camaro is not) affects handling. So I laughed at him and told him that I acknowledge that stock for stock the Camaro is faster in a straight line however, that I would post his comments regarding the Camaro being more of a "true sports car" on this board, and for him to look at this board in about 2 days to see the response.

LOL so true!! I've drove a camaro before the G. Let me tell you it handles like crap in the snow and rain (basically any wet conditions). However, once on dry roads watch out for the domestic muscle!

Tell him to cut off his mullet, get off the moonshine, and get a clue.

What the hell, my post doesn't even make sense. For those that made it through all of the grammatical and spelling errors in my previous post (which I can't seem to edit) I apologize.

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

As an owner of both, I will say that the fact that the camaro can't handle is false(at least the 4th gen). When people say "put the camaro on a road course, twisties, etc they can't handle" obviously haven't driven one. The SS expecially. My SS came with the upgraded "bilstein package" which included eibach springs/bilstein shocks. It also included a better front and rear sway bars. I wouldn't say .90g on the skid pad is a bad performer at all. Not the best, but certainly not as bad as people think. I love both cars for different reasons. I don't care which one is a "true" sports car. They are both fun. But to bash one is silly. Besides, the camaro will rip our G's a new @#$@ in the quarter, and in my opinion , also in a road course. I did pretty well with the SS at hotchkis day at the track. by the way, the camaro weighs about 3600lbs. Not sure of the G? doesn't matter, I love both . They are both my children, I don't love one child more than the other

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I now have a mildly modded C5 corvette. I miss my g's luxury and build quality. In terms of the vette missing anything the G had in terms of performance... well no, its hard to compare a modded vette to a stock G and thats not the question here.

I love them both for completely different reasons.

To me the G is a washed trimmed and nicely cleaned manhood
the vette is a dirty hairy one.

EHHEH.. ahahha .. yep!

IMHO neither are real sportscars, and there are many sportscars out there that are more luxurious than our G so I don't by into that either. My .02

The Z28 driver that you speak of is entitled to his own opinions. But, all I see are apples and oranges.
<blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

He also stated that the G35 lacks torque (in general/ not compared to a Camaro)

<hr></blockquote>
3.5 Liter V6 = apples vs. 5.7 Liter V8 = oranges.

2 different playing fields. That's how I see it. That would be like me playing against Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one.

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I have driven many Chevy Camaros and was never impressed. Yes it is was fast, but cornered like a truck. The build quality was very poor, they seem to rattle inside. If you look at their reliability record in Comsumer Reports you will find them to be very unreliable. Seating in the passenger side was not to comfortable with that big hump from the Cat in your way.

A Supra Twin Turbo would out corner and beat on any stock camero.

Re: G35 not as sporty as Camaro

I am also a owner of a 4th gen. Camaro. These cars are two totally different animals, that is one of the many things that attracted me to the g. It has a fine mixture of luxury and performance. Don't get me wrong dollar for mod the Camaro will beat the g any day of the week and twice on sunday except in a turn....just can't beat cubic inches. God I'm glad I have both.
