No idea whats wrong

So earlier this evening, I let one of buddies drive my car 6mins away from my house to grab a movie. I've only had my car for a week and few days and loving it. Anyways, we are driving no problem, and we get to the blockbuster and as he press's the brake to put it into park he sum how manages to put the car into the triptronic and it gets locked in that mode. He couldnt get the car back into D to put into P or anytihng. It got stuck in the triptronic mode, but here's the messed thing, it got locked in, and every time we moved the shifter over it wont budge on the dash it comes up N. The key is stuck and it wont come out aswell. The car it self is stuck in Neutral, but as I said the car cant move outta the triptronic side and go into D or any other gears. We tried the shiftlock, and that didnt do anything. We also disconnected the batterym to reset it, and that didnt do anything either. We finally resorted to towing the car home and now its sitting in my driveway and i have to tow it to the stealership to see whats what. The car turns on, and everything is fine, it just wont budge outta the triptronic. What I've learned, dont let anybody drive your car!!!
I hoping its only a sensor or something simple rather then a huge problem.

The car itself is a 05 AT sport

maybe disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for a couple of hours will fix it. it could also be a sensor problem. have you tried looking under the console? good luck with the repairs tho. hopefully the dealer can fix it. by the way are you punjabi?

well my buddy fooled around with the tranny box, he opened up the cover and played around with it and the tranny jus clicked outta the triptronic and into the drive and then was able to move. It seemed like the shift box itself had moved or smthg, became misaligned or smthg, im not sure, but hell, its working, but im still gonna get infiniti to have a look at it. And Ricky, yes Im punjabi, you 2 i guess?

Ok pop out the shifter assembly the way how the shift **** boot is placed over it is actually a little tricky. You'll see a bracket looking thing roughly the size of a matchbook in there that has a hole punched out, the shift **** stick needs to slide through THERE first so that you can shift into all the gears otherwise you will get locked out of a gear(s).
I had that issue when I was doing my double din install haha, I reversed my car and couldn't put it in Drive.
