I've done my best to research all this and I'm a bit confused, what does this part do?
Do I require anything else beforehand or afterhand to have this installed? (I saw the part on everythingg35.com
pros and cons?
please let me know,
(sorry in advance if this is a repeated question- I did my best to search before posting)

Jeff.....step into my office....
Let me know what you find....and yes upgrading your FD gears makes acceleration feel much quicker.
Even my 3.5FD VLSD pumpkin I had for a while made acceleration even quicker. I would have kept it if Tom and I could solved the whining sound it made...
I miss that thing....oh yeah I definitely would have beat you on Friday with it very easily

4.083 gears is an increase over the stock AT final drive ratio final drive ratio of 3.367. With stock gears every 3.367 turns of the driveshaft, the wheels fully rotate once. Increasing the final drive will allow the engine to rev-up easier but faster throughout all gears which increases acceleration.
Pros:
faster acceleration (if you can get traction)
more low end push, get out of the hole quicker.
Cons:
higher crusing RPMs which result in slightly lower MPGs (maybe 1-2mpg). At 80MPH you will be doing i think close to 4K RPMs.
Top speed is reduced.
Decreased traction (tires play a big role)
Alot of 5ATers change out their gears to the stock 6MT FD which is a 3.5xx ratio. 4.083 is a big step over the 3.367. Gears get swapped in the differential or you change out the entire pumpkin. It should really be done by someone that has experience working with rear ends. If its not done right, you can get unwanted gear whine and vibrations.

Thanks for the great info.
Do I need anything else or can I just buy this without anything else??
Does it matter if my car has LSD or not? (mine is auto not 6mt) but I have the sport package (front bumper, rear active steering)..
thank you for your help and patience thus far..
what is this pumpkin? if my car has one, do I need to change that out or can I utilize my stock pumpkin??
