Help with buying a salvage title G35 2006 coupe
I currently live and work in Louisville KY so last week my Maxima had water in it over the steering wheel so i am in the market for a new car. i am only looking at nissans/infinitis. i have always wanted a G coupe and my friends cousin has a 06' black on black coupe with 69000 miles. it was rear-ended in 07 and was completely rebuilt so thats the reason for the salvage title. i have drove the car and it drives fine. the car has some 20" axis wheels with brand new tires and a full greddy exhaust. the bad is the front 1/4 panel and drivers door has a few dents in it that may or may noy be able to be pulled out. he was quoted 1700 to fix the damage. he wants $10,000 as is for the car.i want a G so bad but cant figure out if this is a good deal. my father-in-law is a body man, so that would help....... I NEED SOME HELP
Thanks in advance,
David

Ok here is the thing, you dont know who or how it was fixed. It wont matter if you get him down to 5k if the car was fixed wrong and its not safe. I dont get worried about crashed cars because I fix them my self all the time and I KNOW when they leave me there better then when they came in because I fix them back to factory spec's. But most people do not do that or even knowing how.
I would find the best body/frame shop around and ask them to find every thing they can. It will be the best $80-$100 you can spend know if your car is fixed right or wrong.
It will not be worth it if you rush it and it falls apart or starts rusting after a month.

Besides taking the car to a frame/body shop, ask the seller for the paperwork when he took the car in to fix. If it's a small mom and pop body shop, they may have cut corners. However if it went through the insurance and a reputable shop, there's a high possibility it was done correctly and the seller just wants to get the car off his hands.

thanks for the help guys. i will be meeting him this weekend and will see when i can get it to the frame shop. my father in laws brother (who he owns the shop with) should be able to tell how well it was repaired. he has been doing frame/body work for 40 years. Is there any tell tale signs i should have him look for concerning the frame????
