6MT Q

I've had my 6MT now for 3 weeks and about 800 miles. Love the car to death, but just have a question about the feel of the shifter. Sometimes, when I shift into 2nd, I feel some kind of resistance. Nothing too hard, just like a bump on the way down. I've made sure that my foot is all the way down on the clutch and, yes, I know how to drive a stick. It doesn't happen all the time, but it has me paranoid and making really slow shifts thinking maybe I just need to get used to the shifter. Any help or am I just paranoid from reading all the negative stuff on the transmission in these forums?

That is paranoia. It's normal for there to be a little resistance. Now if there is grinding that's another story. Your G is still new and being broken in over time the shifts will be smoother. I have had mine for almost a year with 22k miles and i dont have near as much resistance as there used to be. The shifts are buttery smooth now.

Re: 6MT Q

actually, my car does this too, and i think one of my other friend's G. I usually miss second because of this (when i'm trying to go hella fast) and now that I changed to the nismo shift ****, I seem to grind the gears a lot (which sucks). I'm not sure, but maybe this is why people always complain about how our gear box sucks compared to other cars (as in not at smooth).

I have the notchyness too.. but it went away after some shifting with the car off and clutch down. This is my second week having the car and I roughly have about 800 miles also. I spent about 15 minutes total speed shifting to break it in a little bit. It's a lot smoother now when driving.

Mine was broken in really nice (11K), but now that they replaced the entire clutch assembly due to a defective pressure plate, I have the notchiness back. I feel like I just learned how to drive stick again (been driving stick for 10 yrs). Anyone care for a milkshake? Anyway, it will break in eventually and will be much smoother. As far as missing shifts, I never had that problem. I can't really see how you can miss 2nd?
