Maintaining the perfect G35c.....
Maintaining the perfect G35c.....
When i purchase my G35 Coupe, I want to make sure that I do everything right from the beginning to ensure that I do not do anything to mess up the car, or anything that can cause potential problems in the future.
So... Can someone go through a list of stuff that I should make sure I do so that my G is kept in the best condition possible. Can anyone talk about when I should get the first oil change, break-in schedule, should I get a clear bra, changing the transmission fluid, balancing the tires, etc. If someone can help me with this, it will be greatly appreciated. I am trying to minimize potential mistakes. I'm only interested in the 6mt, but I have reading a lot of posts of people describing problems with 6mt....Is there anything I can do to avoid any of these problems as well??

Ok, first of all, don't go through any of those drive through car washes. That may be the new owner cardinal sin.
I've used the touch free washes before with no problems, but some people have had trouble with wheel damage and worsened paint chips.
Be careful with what kind of cloth you use to wipe down the plastic displays for the radio/climate control. They scratch pretty easily.
I changed my oil and tran. fluid within 1000 miles but that's another one of those things that varies from owner to owner.
Break in periods are different for many, but just be sure not to get on it too hard until the engine is at normal running temperature.
The paint chips easily so a clear bra might be a good idea.
Oh and Nissan dealerships do great non-warranty service for about half the price of Infiniti.
The only problems that i've had with my 6mt ( @21,000 miles) have been the power window motors burning out and a seat weld breaking.

Stay clear of dump trucks on the highway or within no time your front bumper will look like its been to hell and back. Drivethrough car washes are a no-no for the first year of owning any car (paint reasons) but if you know any very good ones in the area (the one by my house is amazingly careful and I've never once had a problem having any car I've owned washed there) However, I still do a extensive hand wash and wax at the end of the month (I slacked this month though, need to order some Zaino). Change your transmission fluid and rear diff. fluid at 10K (6MT) and my personal oil change was 1K, 4K, 7K, 10K etc. The trans fluid change will get rid of the notchyness that plauges the G's 6 speed after extensive use. The 1 K is to remove any shavings that might be in the pan from the break in period. As far as breaking in goes, never WOT first gear for atleast the first 1000 miles, but it is good to WOT high gears (not drive to redline, just drive a little harder than you would normally think is ok to break in) I noticed this really made the G come alive, and by 5K it felt like a whole new car. As far as the brembos go (if you get them) do a search on bedding the breaks. This will prevent squeaking 3K down the road. Hope this helps.

Why the first year? Not like the paint hardens after a year?
