Re: Service engine soon light
If you don't have a scan tool with an Erase/Reset feature, go HERE for info on both the 'pedal method', and 'battery disconnect method' of ECU resets to cancel the CEL.
Be sure to check our FAQ/DIY forum for many helpful tips.

Re: Service engine soon light
Thanks Gsedanman. Believe it or not, I did a search on the subject which led me to the diy forum. From there I did read a thread about the ECU reset method and using a scan tool. The bad thing is the reset method does not work for me and I don't have a scan tool. I even pulled the fuses like one member suggested, but the CEL stayed. I went by AutoZone to buy a scan tool, but the guy there talked me out of it and just erased the error, free of charge. I think he just wanted a closer look at the J5 Pros! hehehehehe
Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Service engine soon light
No probs bro. Glad to help.
Looks like sometimes the ECU reset just won't work on some CEL's.
I've heard that some have had success with disconnecting the battery cables, and, away from the battery terminals, touch the cables together.???????
But heck, if you've got someone at AutoZone who'll reset it for you, then no need to buy a scan tool.
You don't get that many CEL's anyway, but if you have to pay for resets at the dealership like some of us would, (at $80-100 a time), a tool is a must.
Glad you searched and found a solution in DIY/FAQ-- too bad it did no good (this time.).
