2005 Changes?

Do you think the 2005 G35 is going to address some of the other issues routinely talked about here? For example, squeaks and rattles? The seats? The Bose? The paint? It's not like Infiniti doesn't know about these problems (many already have TSBs), and what better time to address them than now? But they can't exactly put, "Won't rattle as much" in their press release. Will they be making fixes they aren't telling us about? Or is this wishful thinking?

My G doesnt sqeak or ratlle. My seats are fine as is my radio. Sit in a 911 and then in a G - you will see how good our seats are...

Great to hear that you love your G and that it's been good to you. I am a prospective buyer trying to decide 04 vs. 05, and my observations are all second hand, based on what I've been reading in the posts here.

Re: 2005 Changes?

I don't think (hope) the issues are as bad as you think. Overall most people are very pleased with car. What you see on this board is a very small sample of the actual owners.

Every year there are improvements so I would think that Infiniti would address the known issues.

The only way we will know how well they did is by looking at this forum a year from now. Hopefully the praise continues to be higher than the complaints.

I ordered 05 and the finale decission point for me was the test drive I had. Within a couple of hours, I test drove the TL and G35. The TL was only a couple of weeks old and had less than 700km on it. The interior was was falling apart - the leather was separating at all the joins on the doors and on the roof. The G35 had over 10000km on it and was extreamly solid compared to the TL. I was able to take the cars on the same road and noticed rattles in the TL and G35 was rattle free.

Sorry for the long reply, I got carried away.

Infiniti sells 2500-3000 G Coupes a month. Any car will have some people who complain about every little thing. This is the best car on the road for the money!

Re: 2005 Changes?

Glad to hear your reassurance. I drove the G and fell in love with it.

Did you order the wood interior on your 05? Unfortunately, there are no pictures of it that I can find. I don't know if it looks good (better than Aluminium) or tacky. And, if you don't mind sharing, did you get any kind of a deal on your pre-order?

Re: 2005 Changes?

I passed on the wood as I really like the aluminium look.

When I ordered, the pricing on the 2005 was unknown so I based my price on the 2004 model. Even if the price does not go up on the 2005 model, I feel that I got a good price for a 2004. If there is a price increase then I got an exceptional deal. If your dealer does not have much 2004 stock, they will be interested in dealing on a 2005 model.

I should mention that I ordered a sedan.

Re: 2005 Changes?

Is bose really a problem? I believe the 05's will be their 10th year (nissan/infiniti) that they have bose as an option so I doubt they'll get rid of it. I think nissan/infiniti has always been cheap on paint too. I had a 96 maxima and there were constant complaints on boards about this.

I think rattles & squeaks are here to stay and if anything will only get worse (especially honda/acuras). Recycled plastic is being used more every year (correct me if I'm wrong... with the environmental conscious honda leading the pack), which is great, except this type of plastic tends to expand and contract easier creating more squeaks and rattles sooner. The negative effects of recycled plastic often don't show for years and only in certain environments. For example I believe it was the integra after a few years (in sunny places) who had a lot of problems opening & closing the sunroof because the plastic brackets warped over time.

Seats? What's wrong with the seats? Many people have complimented how comfortable they were in my car and I even had a friend (who had one of those back cushions in the driver's seat of his porsche) with back problems praise the lumbar support. Although if you ever try to hug/kiss someone in your car the seats make it a bit difficult since they sort of hug you themselves.

Nate

Seats are only an issue if you have a larger *** as part of you will hit the seat controls that are on the top side. Personally, I think it's very comfortable. Longest trip was 3 hours, no problems.
