Need opinions on tires for my G Coupe 05

Guys !

My front tires need replacements ASAP. I want opinions on what I should look at. I need the tires to look good and be suitable for all weather .... Any Ideas guys?

I was looking at something like Michelin Pilot Sports (ZX,AS). Are TOYO Proxes any good? I Like the patterns on TOYO (4, TR1, R1R, R888)

Thanks !

I have Pilot Sport AS on my 18" winter wheels, they are pretty good and basically last forever. I drive them in cold weather and rain, no problems at all. I have Pilot Sport PS2 on my summer wheels and they are the best tires I've ever had. I doubt I can afford to buy another set once these wear out though. If your budget allows, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anything in the Pilot Sport line, they are amazing. Although I'll say their tread pattern is pretty ugly, so if you're looking for "good looking" tires, they may not fit the bill.

Toyo T1R is okay. They get REALLY loud towards the end of their life which is why I wouldn't buy them again, but otherwise they're pretty decent dry or wet if you don't drive like an idiot. I've experienced some slippage though under sudden acceleration in the rain with T1R's, and maybe cuz of the sidewall or something but cornering feels a bit softer and numb than the PS2's. You get what you pay for though, and T1R's aren't bad for the price.

If you want the coolest looking tire get BFGoodrich KDW's. No idea how they ride but the tread looks awesome.

I've had the pilot sports and the toyo t1r's and while the t1r was a good tire, the pilot sports were a great tire. They are more expensive, but it's worth it. I have to agree with tragedycat that it is the best tire I have ever had. I currently have falken 452's and I don't like them at all. I personally like the tread pattern on the invos, and I'll probably try those out next (not based on the tread pattern though).

Another question is my front tires are completely worn out and my rear tires are OK (not shaved on either corner, and they are falkens. I am planning to change only the front ones now ... is that OK or should I change all 4 ?

Just do your fronts. In my experience the rears wear about twice as fast as the fronts, so you will probably replace your rears once more within the life of your new fronts.

The next time I buy tires, I am buying two fronts and 4 rears! I was seriously pissed to find that Goodyear discontinued their 275/35/19 Eagle F1 GSD3 max performance tire! Now, I have mismatched front and rear tires which is just a bit annoying.

I ended up going with the Yokohama S Drives for about half the price and I swear they are just as good as the F1s (never was too impressed by these in spite of all the reviews) and hopefully the S Drives will wear longer as a 300 rated tire. It is getting old to replace rear tires without even getting two seasons out of them (and I run snow tires in the winter!)

I have had the other kind of experience. I got 4 new tires and my fronts are shaved on the inner end ( probably crappy alignment) and the outside looks fine. The rears are just fine .... I have just had about 12000 miles on those tires !! .... And I thought they will last 20.

You should look into getting a front camber kit. Do you have a drop?

Probably just a bad alignment. Although now that I think back, I remember the inside of my tires wearing out a bit before I dropped it. Camber kit fixed that.

I would go with the first one, but I live in a warm weather climate. Since you are looking for a tire that works good in all weather conditions, you should go with the A/S.

Had Toyo Proxes R1's and I had to replace all four. After ready this article,

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...parison_testsI

I bought the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo and I couldn't be happier. They are 100 times quieter than the Proxes and since I'm on the highway a lot, that makes a big difference. Plus, they are absolutely glued to the road during rain; even the mansoon we get down here in FL. Serious wet control.

Finally they were some of the most affordable. the 275's were $213 and the 245's were $183 plus $50 mail in rebate.

Hope this help. G/L
