This weekend two cars rolled up to me at the same time on a four lane road. The on my left was a 01 civic, with a cutie asian girl in it. And the other one was a 94 Acura Legend two door with a stuck up looking ego-maniacal Asian guy. So anyways, Ive never raced my car before so I figure I could take them. The girl reved up on me first and then the Asian guy looked over as if he had already smoked me . So I was pissed. That smurk on his face made me want to race him even more. So the light turns green and I floor it 2 seconds later I look behind and I cant even see them in the rear view. So I guess I won, but as I start to slow down, I see this old 80's chevy pull on me from the corner of my eye in the fourth lane, so I step on the gas and catch up to him. As soon as I do, he takes a quick turn to the right and leaves with a smile on his face thinking he beat me. Hmmm...
So as I reached the stop I think to myself. Did just get smoked by an old Chevy Truck?
So Im wondering, what truck can take a G35 on the street? Anyone know?

G35's are sick off the hook people. I give props to anyone who owns one.

I've been in that situation before...Everyone hatin on us the stop look and stare..and when we're crusin...They wanna race us...so if it's safe...sure it's all good specially on the Embarcadero!

This homeboy in an older VOLVO850T Yellow took off on me...I was coming to a stop and he was rolling already...and took off..and traffic was in front of me..Then another homeboy on a motorcyle rev'd up too...At the light, he comes close to my passenger side knowing that I was ready to take off...

Volvo takes off I catch up and pass the Volvo...coming up quick is the homeboy in the motorcyle riding on 1 wheel it was nice...Next light up ahead I let the Volvo 850T go...On my left..this older white lady in an older 300 series BENZ just kept staring at my ride..Homeboyo on the bike gave me the thumbs up and said "sweet ride"...THAT MADE MY TUESDAY...

My friends 96 s10 with a corvette LT4 stuffed in it would ruin the G as far as straight lines go. Youd be surprised, theres alot of sleeper trucks driving around out there (esp s10's) with vette motors tucked under the hood.

A Ford Lightning ought to do it, particularly at lower speeds. Anything after '02 I think will walk a G like nothing.

Depending on how it's geared and equipped (with options...weight), darn near any basic 350, 305, 302 or 351 truck could give a G trouble. Like noted, a quick visit to the Edelbrock store and the truck is a sleeper. I'd hate to be in any of those trucks doing over 100 though.

In answer to your question, no you didn't get beat if you weren't racing him. You sort of got sucker punched, but you did swing back and whiff.

Remember, a truck is still a truck. I've taken a new Dodge with a Hemi (345 hp). He has a better power to weight ratio than the coupe, but he's got the drag coeffecient of a barn and gearing for pulling boats.

Now the Lightning will embarrass you. It only makes like 380 hp, 450 lb-ft, and does 0 - 60 in about 5 seconds.

I don't think my '68 will outrun a G coupe, but it might surprise a few folks. You can stuff a lot of grunt in those big engine compartments.

There are plenty of trucks on the roads now that are surprisingly fast. My rule of thumb is no racing trucks unless I absolutely know what is under the hood. There are trucks out there that can spank a G in a heartbeat. Too embarrassing to deal with if you ask me. lol

 

Modacar sucks! They messed up my friends CF hood while installing hood pins! Anyways, getting back on topic, I agree with dpking, lotsa crazy trucks out there like the SS silverado, lightnings and all those new dodge rams (rumble bee, srt, etc.).

hey GYAL8R, i'm from stockton!! i take offense to that comment!! haha, not really, it does sound like he was rollin around here with that description. lol, gotta love it tho. so many civics and rsx have pulled up to me wantin to race. makes drivin around this crappy town much more enjoyable!

 

Watch out for diesels, esp. around here (Texas) - there are so many computer programmers out now that for around $1000 - you can get a programmer and a huge intake and exhaust and be putting out like 700 ft lbs to the wheels! I've seen these guys flock out to dyno days and put down some ridiculous numbers... in 8,000 lb. 1-ton trucks!

No kidding about the diesels. I was watching Car & Driver TV a little while ago, and they hada special on trucks. They had a programmer, attached to a Chevy Silverado Turbo Diesel. (Or ford, I can't remember).

The thing was programmable. Reminds me of my boss's Electronic Boost Controller for his Supra... They ran the truck in stock mode, and in the maximum sport mode. They didn't do any mods to the engine whatsoever, as far as exhaust and such. The truck went from 17 second quarter mile to high 14's if I remember correctly. (Was about a year ago, so may be off. But I remember they were suprised at how much it shaved off)

I think 0-60 went from something like 9.x seconds to 6.7 seconds or something.

 

My truck will kill my wifes G we have tried many times. I have a 2002 harley davidson f-150 but it makes it fun she is looking nto modding her car now and well have are own little racing going on i wonder wha t i get if i win looks like i wont tell her about the nitrous
