CF trunk lip - paint options, want your opinion

Hi,

I'm getting the new Hikkatadori Doriluxe trunk painted / installed in my car soon. Link: https://g35driver.com/forums/exterio...-g35coupe.html

The version I ordered has CF on the fin/lip area on the trunk only, with the rest of the exterior fiberglass.

I like the look of the body colored molded spoiler from the rear, but it seems a shame to paint over the nice looking CF.

Please let me know your opinions and thoughts.

Here's what it looks like with body color from rear:

For reference, this is what my current rear looks like. Only change is I'm getting 06+ usdm talilights this weekend.

Thanks,
Pat

I think the ghost effect will look clean.

Since the diffuser is not carbon fiber on your chargespeed I say paint the whole thing.

I think leaving the CF unpainted and painting the FG is the way to go but having a ghosting effect would look nice as well.

thanks for the feedback, all, please keep'em coming.

my biggest concern with leaving the CF unpainted completely is that it will look like an add-on piece, which really defeats the purposes of the clean look of this trunk

You really ought to paint the whole thing, lip and all. I know you paid extra for the CF lip but like you said yourself, it's a sleek trunk to begin with and the addition of random CF detracts from the overall look.

I may end up with option 3, and then worst case scenario, i can always paint everything if I don't like it. but not sure yet

Man I'm so happy this trunk came out. All this time I was thinking about the MG2 trunk. That was until I saw this. I know what I'm getting for Xmas.

yeah, imo this is the best looking trunk/rear lip option out right now. plus no fitment issues as with mg2

since your car is grey i would just paint the trunk exposing the cf because it doesnt stand out as much like if it where pearl or another color. and if you dont like how it looks just get it painted over no big e.

Oh I fogot to vote. Either paint it or ghost it. Unless you're going with a heavy CF exterior theme.
