Why I dont Trust Anyone..

So I recently got in an accident and had a decent amount of front end
damage (rougly $3,000 worth) and I took it to a pretty reliable body shop
which is owned by my fathers boss; also the place I purchased the G from.

Just dropped it off this morning to have suspension/ body work done and
left my backpack in the car. My dad works closed so he swung by to get
it and guess what, the cars not there. I call the guys and ask him where it
is and he says "yeah, its here, he must have come by when the shop was
closed for lunch" . My father said he opened the gate and walked through
the entire shop and my car wasn't there.

To sum up my rant here, i took my pride and joy to a place i thought i
could trust, and the first chance they get they are taking it to lunch on a
joy ride. Thats the reason i HATE taking my car ANYWHERE to get it
worked on....

u should call them out on that, and maybe file a report with the BBB or at least threaten to.

Always record the mileage when you drop off the car. For my detailing business, I take note of the mileage when they drop it off and make sure they know, so there shouldn't be more than an extra mile on the car when they get it back.

That's why you take it to a place where nothing but high end cars get taken to. There's plenty of better cars than ours!

I don't think of the shop taking the car out after a major repair of any kind as a bad thing... the car might have everything in place and it may look like new, but you won't know if anything is wrong until you drive it around. And sometimes a quick test drive really isn't enough. If it's them driving the car, then they can't blame me for something they forgot to do. I would however let them know I know my car wasn't there...

I'm more concerned with them jacking up the volume on my Bose system. It's ok if they are driving around and "testing" to make sure everything is right, but they can't be blowing up my speakers.

So where was it....?

I'd confront them with this, let them know your Dad was in their shop and your car wasn't anywhere in sight....so where was it? Is it possible it was parked in the spray booth since you were getting body work done? Yea, trust needs to be earned, time for some answers.

+1, gary u are always so insightful.

see who took it for a test drive, i knew a buddy that had his S2K totalled @ sears when he was changing his oil. im pretty sure you dont need to drive the S2K on local to change the oil.

usually the workers policies dont include test driving anywhere.

Yeah, i went by today and the car was taken apart and being worked on,
so at least they're on the ball for now. I want to call them out on it but they
are hooking me up with a great deal on some other work while i get these repairs
done. So I don't want to be a d!ck just yet, but I will be checking my mileage for
sureeee when I get the car back friday..

That just pisses me off, I can understand you not wanting to call em out til its done (see...why not to call your waitress a funny name BEFORE your food arrives) But def +1 on take down the mileage and call em out on it if it's not right.
