Should I be concerned about one-time Nav message?

Last night I got a low brake fluid message followed by a vdc error message. And the vdc off and slip lights were both on for the last mile of my drive. Should I bring it in or wait to see if it happens again?

Gfly,

You've got some serious warnings going on there. The lights may not be on now, but may have indicated big issues.

If I were you, I'd carefully make sure the car is still driveable and go straight to the dealer for service.
If you feel it's not driveable or not worth chancing it, then have the dealer tow it.
May seem like I'm being alarmist, but, to my mind, it's better safe than sorry.

Be safe, and G/L
Colin.

How many miles you got on the car? Maybe your brakes need to be replaced. Usually when the pads wear out, the fluid level drops. That may have triggered the VDC to switch off...

did you do any hard driving with the car?.. donuts, drifting etc?... I got the same message once when I was doing so donuts. As far as I see it, It is just the vdc being really confused. I simple turned off the car, waited a minute, turned it back on and the message never came on agn.

Thats why infiniti gives you such an inclusive warranty - (why wouldn't you take it in?)

The sedan I drove threw a VDC light after a couple dounuts. I have to agree its probably just confused in that situation. As for coming on in combination with a brake fluid light durin normal driving, I would think it is nothing serious and should be safe to drive to the dealership to pinpoint what is going on.

Yeah, they both came up again so I'm taking it in today.

There is a TSB on the slip light and vdc light coming on. Check the technical service bulliten forum on this website.

Well, I brought it in and they just filled the brake fluid. They said the front brakes were at 3.5 mm but didn't change them, saying to give them a few thousand miles. Irritating.

Well...... if the NAV said low brake fluid, wouldn't you open the hood and check how much brake fluid you have left? Just seem to make sense to me. The VDC error message is kind of funky though.

Re: Should I be concerned about one-time Nav message?

On my non-nav equipped sedan, the vdc and slip light came on after some spirited mountain driving. I went to the dealer and they advised it was low brake fluid. So I guess those light are there for all cars to let u know u have low fluid

Re: Should I be concerned about one-time Nav message?

Question... Are these messages coming up on the Nav screen? I ordered a NAV in my Coupe and figured at most you'd get the map or current driving info/oil change meter/etc.

Thanks,

NavyGuy

Yes, the navigation also gives you warnings when the computer senses anything wrong about your car. I've gotten the low brake fluid and vdc error warnings written about above. I've also gotten low fuel warnings, where it will say click here to find the closest gas station. The nav also charts your mpg and can give trip info.
