I read in the DIY section that a 3M adhesive was used to mount the emergency brake pedal. There are several different types of 3M spray adhesives and wanted to know if there are any other glue alternatives that will work well. It seems that paying $9-$10 for a spray can of 3M adhesive for only mounting the E-Brake pedal is a bit extreme, especially since I wouldn't find any other use for the adhesive.

Any suggestions?

you use expoxy actually which is like 2 bucks. you can find it at any hardware store home depot, lowes, etc. let it dry overnight

wow doing the clutch and brake pedals is a PITA.
i tried soaping it but gets too slippery to grip, so i did the hair dryer method and finally put one on with blisters everywhere.
gonna leave the brake pedals until the blisters go away....
is there any useful tools when installing this?

I must have been lucky, I just put a little soap down and started from the upper left corner and pulled down and to the right.

i got freakin blister on both of my index fingers the size of a dime. i can barely type this msg rite now. i guess no counterstrike for me.....

I did the same as others. I applied soapy water to the backside of the peddles pads and a little to the peddle base.

(Note) I also used a mirror in the back to see. you also can use a small screw driver to pry the lip over the base.

I just put my pedals on the other day...
I too was struggling to fit it over the clutch/brake... and yes, it was a PITA! =)

I soaked them in HOT water for a couple and minutes, and it was like butter and wrapped around easily over the pedals. Just start at the top, and the bottom corners of it are rubber so you can wrap it fairly easily without a screwdriver or anything....

And as for the gas pedal, you don't have to snap it in.. it actually just slides right in from the top... and click, it's done. No need to clamp it or used much force.

For the emergency brake, I screwed the cover onto the pedal. It's easy, looks professional, and most importantly will hold. Just drill pilot holes through center top and bottow cover. Place cover on pedal, mark holes, depress pedal so solid when drill, drill pilot holes through pedal, screw cover to pedal using black screws. Done.

I bought mine for my 6MT from EverythingG35 too for the same price (~$80 inclduing shipping) .....all parts came yesterday: deadp[edal, gas pedal, clutch pedal, and brake pedal along with the bushing and clip for the gas pedal.

I was expecting a long project. However, after reading the excellent write-up above and adapting it to my 6MT rather than the 5AT, it took 25 minutes iin total. The deadpedal took 4 minutes (including unwrapping the new pedal.....the old one unscrews/pops-off and the new one pops on....easy). The clutch & brake pedals took 7 mintes a piece. I heated a cup of water in the microwave for 5 minutes until it boiled, I then dropped the two pedals into the cup of boiling water and carried the cup out to the car, letting the pedals marinate to soften up the rubber. The old pedals pop off easily.....I sprayed the metal pedal lands with silicon lubricant, WD40 works well I hear too. Using togs, I fished the clutch pedal out of the hot water and slid it onto the clutch pedal land....the top first and then the lower sections just pulled like butter over the edges of the pedal....a small mirror and flashlight helped me see what areas needed to be worked/popped over the metal pedal land. The same was done for the brake pedal. The old gas pedal was removed by popping the clip of the top and hinging it down and sliding the pedal off of the accelerator rod. The new one required inserting the new bushing onto the aluminum pedal, slipping it onto the accelerator rod and hinging it up.....the new clip just slid down into place. It took about 7 minutes to remove and install the new one. I peeled off the protective plastic wrap and stood back to admire the view.
