Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
Sell both, give me the money. You obviously have too much money if you can even think about owning both...
Seriously though, why would you even consider giving up the CLK 55 AMG for a G35 Coupe. I love my G35 and think its a great car, but its in a whole other lesser class compared to the AMG and rightly so since its less then half the price. I think the G35 looks a bit better, but the AMG would leave it in the dust performance wise.
I don't see why you would want both either since they both fill a similar role as 4 seat sports cars.

Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
The G35 would most definitely be a step down from a CLK55. However, I think the G35 looks better.
There's no way you trade the CLK55 for a G35 though. Maybe in 2-3 years you can trade it for a GT-R.

Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
Wow... are you serious?
I currently have a 2002clk55 and I love it. My lease is up next month so I am shopping for a new car. Basically, I have narrowed it down to a G35 coupe/seden or acura tl.
I don't know what you are smoking but the amg is 1000x the car the g35 is (no offense to anyone who has the g35).
For me, I leased the amg and loved it. But I am getting older and spending 1150 a month is just silly when I can get a good car for 400 a month. Just my 2 cents.
But since you have the clk55... enjoy it. Dont get a new car yet.

I say the person who started this thread is nuts! Why waist all of your money on cars?

If you only have enough money for these 2 cars, I say you probably cannot afford either vehicle realistically. I think something is either missing from the story, or something is terribly wrong… Think about it, I can make payments for a G35, a Limited Sequoia, and that’s only say ~15% of my gross annual household income. If I really wanted a 2005 Porsche Carrera and a 2004 E46-M3 I could go out and buy both today AND keep the G35, the Sequoia, my house and present lifestyle, (but I would have to say bye-bye to my investments, children’s college funds, giving, etc…) and I’m by no stretch of the imagination rich. Something just doesn't add up here...
jwg35c,
FYI, the 2005 911 is out on the streets in Central FL. I had some fun with one today on the local interstate on my way home from work. It was AWESOME!!!
I do not approve of street racing, and don't want to sound like a hypocrite, but all I can say is that the G35 surely holds its own when the rev's are above 4000. The Porsche never lost me (and he was trying) for over 20 miles. Thank GOD for radar detectors. We slowed down to 35 for toll plazas, accelerated quickly to ??? and as long as I kissed the rev limiter on every shift the Carrera never pulled an inch (thank GOD again that we never took off from a stand still). A big thumbs up was received and given to the Porsche owner. It was a total blast!!!
The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

well i shouldve elabortaed...the expenses on the AMG are a arm & a leg...and i dont have as much money as you may think..just invested properly and got lucky...i originally was going to buy a used 02 AMG bc i like the style better...but the dealership didnt have any...and i want something different from what most of my friends have (ie lexus, acura, etc etc)
Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
if the coupe is like children's toy to me...i wouldnt consider purchasing it in the first place...the reason i bought the AMG because my previous car was a '91 Camry...you have to admit thats a big jump...and that was a mistake i made...bc i didnt look at it from all aspects...
Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
first thing come to mind is why would you want a G while you allready own the 04 clk55 amg? but as i read on,i think you really want to down grade.so if that true,it'll perfect to sell the clk and get a G.
Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
In that case the G35C would seem like a good settlement. Even if it's not as well built as the AMG, the G is certainly a well built car in its own right. I mean, even the guy who says the CLK55 is 1000 times the car the G is drives a G. And the G couple looks GOOD! Go for the G! (if you can't afford to keep the AMG, that is)

Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
I really don't some of you people have to come on here and criticize him for a decision he needs help with and is serious about to my knowledge! If i had a car like that but wanted something more fun, but was already struggling for paying for the clk55amg, what would make anyone think that he would go more expensize for a new 2005 911? I think he wants a nice, cheaper car which is very fun yes the CLK55 amg is nice and fast, but isnt nearly half as much fun as a G35 i GUARENTEE, my friends father has a S55 and E55 amg, i driove both and they are fast as hell, but handling and everything is to comfy for me, he even just bought a g35 coupe and he also has a ferrari and lamborghini! To say peopel with money shouldnt buy a G35 makes me laugh, lol soem of you people just degrade your own CARS! Im not yelling at anyone just wondering why? =) Nice decision if you go with it, honestly i would get an M3 if i were you, nice and simple!

Re: CLK55 AMG or G35Coupe
No offence to anyone but stop ranting and raving about the damn BENZ! yes its a nice car but not worth all tat money in my opinion i traded my 91 S500 in for my G and I was very pleased. servcing and keeping up with benz gets to you after a while yes they are nice cars but i think its too much hype.
If you want to enjoy driving your car everyday then buy a G. then again if you can keep making $1100 payments buy a porsche turbo or C4S stop dumping you money into that benz.
Damn I miss the smooth quite ride of my S500
