60k mile service

My G just broke 60k miles. I called the closest infiniti dealer to me. I was quoted $610. for the service which includes an oil change, tire rotate and balance, new air cabin filter, and throttle de-carb service.

My question is, has anybody had this service performed? if so was it worth it? and is $610. a good price?

All comments are welcome, i appreciate any feedback i can get here.

Thanks,
Matt in Tampa

Hey Matt,

$610 is total rip off in my opinion.

First, Oil Change (Synthetic)- maybe worth $50 or $25 if you do it yourself

Second - Tires should not be able to be rotated so not sure what they are trying to pull here.

Third - Cabin filter is easy to change - Do it yourself for $30

Fourth, Not sure what the throttle de-carb service is? but if it is a throttle body cleaning, keep your money because this is not necessary either. If it makes you feel better pull your intake tube and look at your throttle body, if it is carboned up (which I would be surprised it would be) clean it up with some throttle body cleaner, thats it.

If you do not want to do anything yourself, any shop can do this all for you very easily for at least a quarter of the price.

In addition to the above, I would change your drive belts if they are original (2 belts, $32 from Coz at Concept Z). I would also check your air filter too, (cheap and easy to change). Lastly you are probably due for a coolant flush, tranny and diff fluid change too. These are all simple jobs and have good detailed DIY's on this site.

Infiniti Stealerships....=(

You can do much better at a Nissan dealership than Infiniti price wise. Don't get the oil change unless you're due. We don't/can't rotate our tires so you know this is wrong. At 60K I'd have all fluids changed and have them do a complete check, brakes..belts and hoses and replace anything that's worn. It's been my experience that Nissan charges 40% less than Infiniti for the same service and I believe their mechanics are better trained, that's were I take SLICK for service!

I just replaced the clutch fluid on my 6 m/t and wow can I feel the difference. Clutch is way much softer and no jerkin anymore. So you might consider doing it. I did it the easy way with syringe.

Infiniti quoted me $300 for trans service, asking why I was told they used better quality fluids which you know is bull ****! I had Nissan drain all my fluids and service my trans and my cost was just over $200. Does anyone wonder why we call Infiniti the STEALERSHIP?
