And the Modding Begins..

Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of beginning to mod my car. I have a 2004 DG 6MT. Last night I installed the KCR HKS replica exhaust and a set of Stillen sways (stiff/stiff). In the next several weeks I'll also be installing a Bronze Fujita SRI and a MD 5/16th copper plenum. I'm not looking to do any excessive exterior mods (bodykits or large rims) but would like to subtly mod the car. I'm thinking about an exterior styling reminiscent of a stealth bomber. Dark grey rims with a matte or eggshell finish, a dark grill and a light tint. I'm going to be doing a partial debadge (leaving the MT. Fuji) tonight. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I could do? I'm in school, so I'm trying to do all of this on a budget build. I'd really appreciate the help as I'm relatively new to the G35 scene. Thanks a ton guys, I'm looking forward to your replies.

I was really considering a drop, but I live in Edmonton and the car is a year round DD. I can't really afford to turn it into a snow plow. Coilovers are definitely an option, but I'd have to be looking at a good deal on a used set. I definitely can't afford a new set right now. What is the public opinion on painting/powdercoating the stock rims? I have the 18's which in my opinion are nice looking rims. I really don't want to drop a lot of money on new rims, and to be honest I prefer the stock look. Have many people painted them successfully?

I have the same car as you (2004 DG 6mt). I asked around a bit to see what powdercoating would run and places around here charge about $150 a wheel. Considering I could get a new set of wheels for like $200 a piece (although they'd be cheaper wheels) I decided against it.

How are you liking the sways? I have a pair sitting in my garage (also stillen) ready to be installed.

I just got a chance to take the car out with the new sways. It handles a lot better. There's very little roll through the corners and the car generally feels a lot more tied together. It doesn't jump over road imperfections like it used to. Definitely worth the money. Stillen was doing a promotion when I bought mine. A great way to invest $300.00. I was just looking at Princess Jens thread and I really like how her stock grill is painted. What color was that? It seems slightly more grey than a typical flat black.
