Hmmmm, that's nice if you can get that much for it. I paid $35,000.+ for my 2003 Acura CL-S in January of 03. When I went to sell it Blue book was $28,500. It was 10 months old and had less than 10,00 miles on it. The car was in mint condition and had $3,000. in upgrades. After 3 months in the Trader I managed to get only $24,000. My point is this, sometimes you can't always get what you want for the car even though you think it is worth more.

KBB is super high retail. For a more accurate price check www.edmunds.com
KBB is usually off 2-3K sometimes more. Id say a 03 coupe is worth about $27-28k, which still is good seeing as you can buy a new one for $31-32.

Check E-bay for comparable sales. I think that's a bit on the high side. Just yesterday there was a young kid that said he had $26,000 to spend on a car and was looking at a Honda or a used 330i. I went to E-bay and found quite a few 2003 G35 coupes for under $26,000. Most had under 30K miles on them.

Why would anyone pay you $31,000 for a used car if they could buy a brand new 2004 for about the same price?

Blue book is on crack. Almost any car is worth (I'm generalizing here) about 75% of new as soon as you sign the title, then depreciates about 10% a year after that. 3 year old car with average miles is basically half the invoice. That's wholesale (what a dealer pays you). Add another 5-10% and that's what you'd get retail.

I sold cars for 4 years long ago and a dealer is very good at making you think you're getting more. Ebay rules. That's the real world and the only true free market. What you see on ebay is what the car is actually "worth".

Actually....It is only worth what you can get someone to pay you for it.
Realistically....I'd say around $27,900 - $28,500 retail...based on the amount of G resales comming available and what I am seeing at the dealer auctions.

I actually think edmunds is too low, I see their car values and I'm always wanting to see where I can get the car at that price. I remember when I was getting a used maxima kbb was like 16k at dealer, 15k for private party and edmunds was 9k... The salvage titles at that time were going for 11k.

Re: 2003 worth same as what I bought it for!

I just sold my sedan that I had for one year. The difference between how much I paid (before tax and registration) and how much I sold it is only $1,700. I think our Gs hold their value well - now I just need to get an '05 coupe and I'll be happy.

I'm in Los Angeles. I have seen no ads for used coupes for under $31K. The resale value appears to be outstanding on coupes. Not so for sedans.
However, if Infiniti is flooding the markert with new coupe production, the resale value will start to come down. So now is probably the time to sell if you want a new car!

Re: 2003 worth same as what I bought it for!

when getting prices for your used car on kbb, also note that you can choose the condition of your car. going from good to excellent will change it about a couple thousand dollars. most sellers will grade their car better than what it truly is -- they usually put excellent. and most buyers will get their price using the good condition option. but in the end, it doesn't matter what kbb or edmunds quotes your car to be. it all depends on demand. for example, my parents sold their old 4 door corolla after putting it in the paper for one day and got exactly what they asked for it -- high kbb. however, my excellent condition honda passport with $2000 worth of sound equipment which i was giving away for free was on the market for 3-4 months. i finally got low kbb price for it.
