03 g35 bulb and ballast into 06-07 g35 headlights?

I want to upgrade my 03 coupe headlights to the newer projectors. The headlights I want to buy do not come with ballast or bulb. Will my bulb and ballast bolt straight on????

Thanks!

The bulbs will not fit. You will need to get d2s lights. The HID bulbs on the older headlights are d2r.

The ballast is plug and play with no issues if the bulbs are different?

The bulb is merely a different fitment, that's all. D2R (03-05, used in reflector housings) and D2S (06/07, used in projector housings) bulbs have different notches. D2R bulbs also have a ceramic coating to help prevent glare. Otherwise, they are the same.

So if i wanted to get the projector housings... i can just replace the bulb from d2r to
d2s and everything should be fine?

The turn signal bulbs are also different. 03-05 headlights require dual filament (7443) while 06/07 use single filament (7440).

I swapped D2R 05 blubs into the D2S projectors no problem... Try it FIRST.

There are three components.

1. Ballast
2. Bulbs
3. Wire harness

ONLY #1 is interchangeable between the two.

#2 and #3 are specific to projector and non-projectors.

Also, you can use the old xenon bulb, but you will need to dremel out a small portion of the plastic base to have it fit.

Yes, the 03 ballast does fit/work. I upgraded my 03 to the projectors. Ballast is held in place with 3 screws wiring needs to be fished through the inside of the housing. I used a bent coat hanger. My projectors came with the bulbs included.
