Thumping sound coming from rear
Thumping sound coming from rear
i got my 06 g35 6mt 2 weeks back got it check it everything is perfect expect the rear tires have 3/32 tread left. While driving i have noticed that there is a loud thumping sound coming from the rear, It increases rapidly and gets louder as i accelerate. I checked the psi for the tires and they are correct. Anyone have any idea? The car gas about 38K miles.
I had the problem too, but turns out it was just my stereo
sorry...had to be a smart **** today
Have you done anything to the suspension recently? checked all the lugs to ensure they are solid? hit a big pot hole or something (hopefully not)?

haha i hope its just the stereo..i have not done anything to to the suspension or the car just took it to the dealer for an oil change. Haven't hit any pot holes either. Its like a hammering sound from the rear passenger side.
Hmmmm, notice any "drag" on that tire (brake not disengaging?) possibly something wrong with your hub/axle? check under there for anything loose or hanging...
Any other pointers gang?

is your exhaust on tight. i noticed my driver's side exhaust was rattling because the clip that holds it up was loose. i'm not saying this is the cause of your thumping sound but it's just something to check up on.
i am having the same exact problem, in the same rear wheel, its like a creaking noise and sounds like something is about to fall off.. im in the process of solving the problem and ill let you know.

yea as i suspected it was the rear tire that was making the noise, and also found out that the clutch will need replacing soon, AC, PS, AT belts need replacing, and cabin filter needs replacing. Also my 30K service is overdue.
