Designed from the ground up on the racing-inspired FM (Front Mid-ship) platform, the Infiniti G35 sport coupe expands its performance capabilities for the 2005 model year with the addition of two new Sport models featuring 19-inch wheels and tires, Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD) and 15 additional horsepower for the 6-speed manual transmission-equipped version.

The G35 sport coupe will be offered in three models for 2005, Coupe, Coupe Sport (A/T) and Coupe Sport 6MT.

The 2005 G35 sport coupe features a long list of standard performance features, including a 280 horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 mated to a standard 5-speed electronically controlled automatic with manual shift mode.

The G35 Sport 6MT model offers a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and an additional 15-plus horsepower, bringing its power to the 295 horsepower range (final figures to be announced later). Inside, the G35 sport coupe offers the expected levels of Infiniti premium available amenities, including an available BoseŽ premium audio system and DVD-based Infiniti Navigation System.

ONLY THE 2005 MT will receive the bump in horse power, the 2005 AT will not. So this has finally been verified.

He means the estimated 15-hp increase for the 6MT version only is verified, but we already knew that from the June press release. People just kept trying to hope and wish that the AT version would get the add'l HP too, which spawned lots of threads based on that rumor.

My question is.....if the G is getting more HP, is the 350Z getting more too? I think they would try to keep the Z on top of the G in terms of HP (but not looks).

some people are saying that the Z doesnt have to have more HP cause Infiniti is in a higher level than Nissan...

i know, i know, its the same thing, but we'll see!

That's dumb the 350Z should get more hp.

I did see a longnose (and longtail) 350Z in a recent Road and Track mag (it's on the cover, plus there is a G vs rx8 article).

That car was built for homologation in Japan and made 300hp. I don't think it was meant for US though.

One more thing I noticed about the new G35's vs. the 2004 is that the Tape Deck on the Bose Stereo is now gone (thank god). Who the hell uses a tape deck now-a-days...

I don't think the tape deck is gone, just the door for the tape slot is flush w/ the dash face, so it looks sleeker.

I don't like the tape deck either, but it works well if you have a IPOD or Dell Jukebox and you want to play it through your car radio. Yes, they make wireless adapters for the MP3 players, but I think quality suffers and if you're taking along trip, I would imagine you have to constantly search for a new station.

Tape Deck IS gone!

The tape deck is INDEED gone. It is not flush but it has been flushed.

The tape deck was not used by many people except for people listening to books on tape or reviewing personal notes recordings......who does either of those any more? Apparently not many people and it was deleted. It lends a more upscale impression to the stereo. I guess if we can't have DVD-A like other makes, we can at least have a stereo with out the dinosaur tape player.
