I usually use a flat head screw driver. Give it a try

If you feel around you will feel a little space on one side that feels like a gap on the connection. You need to use a flat head screw driver and press down on this part because it is a clip that holds it in place on the connection. It is like every other clip connection on the car that has a certain place that is needs to be depressed in order to be released. I know it is is hard to get to because I just replaced my lights about a week ago. It is possible it just takes a little bit of time and effort to get it off.

Try using a flatheaded screwdriver from the wheel well. I found that easiest when I was swapping my headlights.

Yeah forgot to say that. It is a lot easier to get to the spot when you lift the front end and open the wheel wells.

I use my vise grip fingers... if that fails a pick tool is the best bet,
