Wheel Vibration

Hey Guys - I just got my G35 Coupe (6 MT) 4 months ago. A month ago, I took a sharp turn, the roads were wet, and my car didn't tirn on time and kept slippin, and the passenger-side front wheel hit the curb and got all scratched up..Ever since then, I've noticed that when the road curves a little to the left, and when i tilt the steering wheel a little to the left, I feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I only feel it when i'm going straight and have to turn the steering wheel slightly to the left. Does anyone know what may be wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Wheel Vibration

Have your alignment checked. The front tire hiting the curb probably caused some sort of misalignment thus resulting in your vibration issue. Chances are, if you take it to the dealer and the damage on the front tire is noticeable, they will bill you for the alignment. But then again they might not. Good luck in getting your problem resolved.

Re: Wheel Vibration

Could be a bent rim (@ $80 to fix). When it is "out-of-round" It will vibrate and no amount of balancing will fully correct it.

Re: Wheel Vibration

I took it to a tire place and they re-did the alignment, cahrged m $70, but that didn't do anything. They also balanced my wheels for free cause I complained that their work didn't take care of the problem. They said they couldn't fuind anything wrong. So, I don't know what could be wrong..Thanks for the siggestion though!

Re: Wheel Vibration

It might be a bent rim..The vibration is not steady either, it comes and goes with a couple of seconds of pauses...

where can i get a bent rim fixed at? Can you suggest a good place? Also, cany siggestions on how to get the scratched off the rims? I have the sports package, so i have the 18' sports wheels/rims...

Re: Wheel Vibration

yep sounds exactly like a bent rim, unless you have put some of that fix-a-flat stuf in your tires; that will also cause it... But it is likely a bent rim. Take it to a wheel shop, they normally charge @ 80 bucks

Re: Wheel Vibration

I got my scratches fixed at the dealer... But a wheel shop can normally fix both problems. I'm not sure of any good places in your area. If you're in the RAleigh area, McNair Performance does a good job.
