Manual or Auto?
I love driving manuals, and my last 3 cars have all been 5/6 speeds, and automatics really are boring and leave me wanting to row-my-own after just a few hours. However, and I know this is anti-popular on this site, the G35 manuals just do not drive very well. The clutch take-up is horrible in every car I test drove (lots of them over 3 years) regardless of miles, and the throws are long. Honestly, I really wanted a MT G, but they always felt like driving a delivery truck! And in nearly every one I drove over 50k, the clutch was going (or gone) from owners likely slipping/riding it too much to trying and smooth it out.
Drive both as much as possible, get what you like. Not trying to hate on the MT lovers out there, to each his own, and you do get a nice HP bonus

I just bought my 2003 OB 6MT 2 weeks ago and I am in love with my car, it took over a month of waiting patiently for the right car but I eventually found her.
The thing about driving stick is that you develop this "relationship" with your car knowing specifically when to shift, how to drive it and how to appreciate it in a way that only you and the car know. I know it sounds cheesy, but in my opinion, you really don't get that feeling in an auto (no offense AT drivers) but at least IMO the G is made to be driven, so get an MT.

Not sure why anyone would buy an automatic sportscar (luxury sport techinically)
The only way Id ever buy an auto is if the vehicle Im looking at wasnt offered in manual.. otherwise its worth the wait. And even then Id probably find a different make vehicle that came in manual tranny.
And both those cars you linked arent very appealing, atleast not to me.

I purchased the AT because of an old sports injury that makes my left knee bother me when it rains or is humid. My vehicle before the g35 was a 5 speed jeep wrangler but i decided that i wanted the AT with a Manual mode to give my poor knee and leg a rest.
I already regret it sometimes but then again my leg is pain free.

Every car up until my G I've owned has been a 5 speed. I test drove a 350Z with a 6 speed, the gas is just too touchy for me. I mean, I could probably dump the clutch with no gas and it would go. I barely tapped the gas and I was slipping it with like 4k rpm. And the clutch weight was too much for me. Maybe the 350Z has a different tranny, I dunno. But I didn't enjoy it. STILL, I was looking for a G with a 6MT. My area had none. I test drove a 5AT and loved it. I get all the perks of a stick (shifting when I want, downshifting instead of using the breaks, redlining etc), with the perks of an automatic (I have never missed a gear, and never will, Put it in drive when you dont wanna do anything in the cockpit, slap your passenger mid corner without losing control). You get it all. I don't regret my decision whatsoever. I can **** when I want, or have a relaxing cruise when I just don't feel like using both feet. Sure, the 6MT may have like 18-25 more rwhp, but you could spend the money you saved on buying an AT and put into a plenum spacer and pop charger and literally be at about the same level.
Now don't get me wrong. With the manumatic 5AT you have to shift a full second before it will actually shift, so you have to find the right timing when shifting so you dont redline it. Otherwise you can buy a grouding kit (got mine for $150 shipped) or get a sprint booster. That'll run you $300. The grounding kit, from what I've experienced, takes the 1 second lag in half. So instead of having to shift at 5500 in first so it'll shift at 6500, I can shift at 6000. The sprint booster, although i dont own one, I have heard will completely eliminate any lag. SO YES, there are some disadvantages. But I love my 5AT.

if you get 6mt, there will always be a moment you'd wish you had automatic, like when you are so tired and out of it from work or school, or whatever; and this holds truer if you are in a crowded area with lots of stopping.
But if you get an automatic, you will still be able to shift with the tiptronic even though it's not as fun as real shifting without feeling tired everyday after a long day.
Like everyone said, you have to drive them both and see which one suits you better.
When my gf was shopping for her mini cooper, she was pretty sure she would get a manual and she insisted on it even though she does a lot of city driving. But after test driving several AT and manual, she decided that she could get enough fun out of tiptronic without sacrificing the comfort of A/T.
Good luck with it!

OP do not ask us as you will be the one driving the car. Maybe I should ask you where I should build my house now?
