i wasn't even paying attention and then the next thing i hear is the engine of the cl. i had a crazy chirp from first to second. when we got to the next light talked a bit he said he really liked the car. i had him by 2 car lengths

Yeah rite!!! CL are fast as G! That is why Acura CL is our competitor! I've raced CL Type S and it is damn fast! I'm talking about Stock vs Stock, Apple to Apple. Don't forget... V-Tec engine are so damn good. CL Type S and G would be tied at the line no matter what.

I've raced one and beat it bad in my opinion. They are not dogs though and are fun to race.

 

They average around 15.0 stock for auto and 14.5 stock for 6-speed. If both driver's don't f#$k up, then the G35 6-speed will beat it everytime. Stock for stock, they are definitely slower.

Acura CL-S is a 15s car in 1/4 mile. Stock vs stock G35C should win for sure! Any magazines i've read shows G35C with a faster time than CL-S in 1/4 mile and 0-60.

Some guy in the Acura forum has a 3.2 CL-S with Injen CAI, nitto tires, swaybars, Unorthodox Racing Ultra SS Pulley Kit, headers and exhaust, and few other mods only pull a BEST 1/4 mile time of 14.613, which is the 1/4 mile time for G35C stock.

 

turq - CL-S 6 speeds are pretty fast. Don't underestimate them cuz its all a drivers race. I would know because my brother has a 6 speed CL-S. I have to admit though, my car is faster than his, but not by much. He's beaten alot of G coupe autos and a few 6 speeds.

Does your brother have I/H/E...they are pretty quick if they have those mods. The trouble is that they don't launch well but on a roll, they are quick.

I find it hard to believe that your brother has beat a lot of G35s, unless the G drivers werent racing. The G will beat a CL-S every single day of the week including Sunday.

I've beat a manual CL-S from a stop and from a roll and I've beat it with no problem. I'm not knocking on the CL-S or your bro cause I like the CL-S and the interior. But in a race, its no contest.

 

i agree, i really like the CL i damn near bought one but they just aren't as fast as the G.

He has beaten alot of G35's and Z's and i was with him in the car most of the races. (some freeway, some street) I wouldnt be lying...i mean i have a g35. But to say that a CL-S cant beat a G35 is totally wrong. Its really a drivers race. Who knows...my brothers car is unusually fast for a CL-S though. A freak from the factory maybe?

I do have to agree with EZZ though, we'll definitely get a better launch, but from a roll, its hard to tell.

 

On avg, their 1/4 mile times are only around 0.2 s slower than the G35c, assuming same transmission so I don't agree w/ people who say there's no way it could beat the G35c. Relatively equal weight, w/ almost as much hp = close race w/ G35c winning slightly.
