Debadge failure!
Thats how mine looked when i first took it off and it looks like you have lakeshore slate which is the same color i had. I think you need to use more goo gone/wax and some more elbow grease to get it off...I remember it was a pain in the rear to get everything off.
That one on the left(where the first "I" of Infiniti was) definitely looks like the paint is completely ripped off in a chunk. That won't buff out and isn't something you can't really hide either, unless you just put the letters back on over it. Even if you do that, I would touch that up with something first so that it's not bare exposed metal, or it might start to rust and the letter will eventually fall off anyways.
Unfortunately, at this point, your best bet is probably to repaint that trunk.

I think you should just take it to a detailer to see what they think.. with pictures it's hard to tell and you shouldn't make it worse if it really is the paint chipping
thats exactly how mine looked after i took the letters off.. you need to repaint it.. its the clear coat that has deteriorated over time.. i took it to get buffed and they said id be better off using that money to get m trunk re-cleared than to spend it on them.. lol
im getting a CF trunk to fix the problem and just put the letters back on my OEM trunk hahaha..
