Debadge failure!

So.. I decided to debadge my car today and found this hideous crap underneath! I follow instructions on using fishing wire/floss to remove the badges and saw that the paint looked weird under the adhesive! Use Goo Gone to take off the gunk and saw this underneath every single letter. Some parts are above the paint and some parts are like chips. =[ Each letter under "INFINITI" and the "G35" are like this. Can this be repaired using touch up paint/sanding? I'll post more picks tomorrow after Thanksgiving but damn this sucks.

Has your car been in an accident before you owned it? Looks to me like your car was rear ended and the body shop super glued the badges on, apposed to using 3m auto tape.

have you tried scraping the rest of the adhesive off using WD40 and your fingernail? It looks like a lot of that is just adhesive, and the paint looks a lot brighter underneath? try polish and waxing it?

just get a micro fiber cloth with some goo-gone heat up the left over adhesive and "rub it out". The clean the area and use some rubbing compound to get the ghosting of the letters out of there. If theres paint missing its a possibility you could have overheated the paint and when you removed the adhesive some of the paint came off with it.

We generally recommend using ScratchX after the adhesive is removed to get rid of the shadows. Apparently you'll need more than that from your description. Take your G to a detail shop and ask them if they can buff out your trunk lid and get rid of whatever that stuff is.... May need to repainted, that's not OEM/factory! Another first on Driver!

if your paint is chiped or bubled then i would just put the badges back on or repaint the whole trunk lid, and if thats IP its gonna be expensive to paint the trunk and blend the surrounding panels
