autozone door actuators
#4
anything is better than the OEM one right. My firends dad has a auto electric shop that rebuilds electronic parts for cars and he told me that most actuators only have to wires where as our has six(coupe) do to the roll up funtion(moves 1/2 in when the coupe doors open and close). he also said ours are known to go out in 2 years because of this.

You're talking about the window actuators right?
I had a question about those things. The other day, i went to get in my car on a cold, frosty morning after a rainy night, and when i tried to open my door, the window wouldn't go down and i couldn't open the door. Luckily, the passenger door opened and i could get in that way, but if they were both stuck, i'd be boned. Do you think this was caused by weak actuators? would replacement OEM or these autozone ones fix this problem?
Edit: I didn't mention that the windows wouldn't go down because everything was frozen. Not like a sheet of ice or anything, but frost all over the car and such.

You are talking about the door lock actuator. Not the window motor or regulator.
As LightOut said: many have had good success, many have had short lived success. They come with a lifetime warranty, so just do it. They're cheap and the install isn't terrible. A little bit of a project, but not terrible. There is a nice DIY here somewhere. BTW - I've done this repair on my driver side door and mine has been working nicely for the past few months.
