What is the car idling at? If it idles below a certain rev, the car will shut off.

It's not the battery. You can unplug the battery and the car will still be running. If our car is running on the battery, then we have one crappy car.

He drove it to a car shop after (so he was braking, idling, etc), and they turned it off by disconnecting the alternator i think.

If the SES pops up have the code read and report back here. Until then we can just guess what the issue is and that's probably not helpful to you.

Throttle position sensors are about 150-200 bucks. I don't know how much either for the G but it will be closer to the 150. with some basic electrical skills you can replace it yourself. Maybe even plug and play, I will take a look later today. It is part of the throttle body. There is also a accelerator position sensor so make sure you get the right part, this one goes to your throttle petal.

a faulty position sensor will definitely cut your engine mid drive.

I had the same problem with my Nissan Skyline 350gt 04 manual coupe. change the Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Bank 1 if you having code P0340, the sensor is the passenger side for Infiniti G35 and for Nissan Skyline 350gt it is the driver side. after replacing the cam position sensor clear your engine light by resetting the ecu.

Procedures to reset Infiniti G35/ Nissan Skyline 350gt.

To locate your Infiniti G35/ Nissan Skyline 350gt battery, open your hood and find the battery tray on the (passenger side for Infiniti G35) / (driver side for Nissan Skyline 350gt) of the upper engine bay. If you wish to learn how to reset your G35/Skyline 350gt ECU by way of the pedals, continue on.
  1. Get into your vehicle and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position, you do not need the ignition key inside your fob for this step.
  2. Push down on your gas pedal firmly and then fully release it. Repeat this process 5 times, making sure to distinctly release and depress each time.
  3. Now wait for 7 seconds and then push down on your gas pedal and hold down on it until your Check Engine Light starts to blink.
  4. Once your MIL begins to blink, release the gas.
  5. Wait about 10 seconds and then push down on your gas pedal and hold for another 10 seconds
  6. Release your gas pedal
Then you good to go!
Problem fixed for me
Hope this helps
