Driver Seat Uncomfortable.. FIXED!!

Hey all... first of all Hello, I just registered a few minutes ago but I have been lurking for a while.

Anyhow.. I have a 2005 G35 that I love.. but if I take any drives over 45 minutes or so I get pain in my legs from the supports on the side pushing against my thigh.

I am a fit guy, but I am 6'1" and as a few have realized these cars I believe were made for smaller framed folks. Jeez I even bought mine from an Asian fellow.. Nice guy.. but I could have lifted him up with one arm. heh

I had plans to take the chair to an upholstery shop... but after reading through the Forums I heard stories about Unplugging the chair.. and the airbag GOING OFF!!... or the airbag NOT WORKING after taking the chair out...

So... here is what I did...

1) I unscrewed the front plastic plate from the seat (its the part that if you are sitting in the drivers seat.. and pull your legs in..the back of your feet will hit this piece)

2) I uncliped the upholstery from the FRONT PART.. and the SIDE NEAR THE DRIVER DOOR.

**** At this point you should be able to Lift up the cushion of the drivers seat and put your hand between the FRAME of the seat.. and the CUSHION for the seat.

3) **Beware.. this part gets a bit redneck*** then I took a Towel... and folded it into a cushion that matches the LOW part of the Seat.

4) then I DUCT TAPED the heck out of the towel.. basically making a duct Tape cushion.... this makes it easier to slide into place.. and also will theoretically protect any wierd smells from soaking into the towel..

5) then I slide this BETWEEN the CUSHION.. and the FRAME of the seat... aligning it in the middle....

5) Then I hooked everything back up..

NOW when I sit on the seat.. the middle is lifted up a bit more ..therefore making the side bolsters pretty much unnoticeable...and its basically a whole new chair...

Hope that helps someone

-John

WELCOME!

at 6'1", isnt that putting your head awfully close to the roof? or do you not have the sunroof?

also, post some pics for us (you can do this easily by creating a free account at photobucket.com, uploading the pic there, and then copy pasting the direct link to your pic into your post on this site

Unless I told you to look at the seat you wouldn't know anything was done.

But I will try and take pics soon.
