How much will a blown motor for a g35 cost? I have always wanted to dissasemble a motor and put it back together to learn. It would be nice to see if you can get the motor to crank, but I think a motor that has a piston thru the side or something will be cheaper?

Re: can anyone confirm this about japanese engines?
I would think an SR20 4 cylinder would be lots cheaper and better to learn on. Significant body of knowledge over the last 15 years, what works and what doesn't. 3.0 liter maxima engines are plentiful as are the 300zx/J30 3 liter engines from 90-97
The V6 3.5 hasn't been out but like 3 years so too new to get other than from a wrecked car or a blown scrap engine.
High volume domestic are easy from junk yards and parts are cheap whereas JDM parts are all 50-100% higher [at dealer retail than domestics].

Truth about mileage in Japan
There is no such law "requiring" engine replacement at a certain mileage. That is a urban myth propagated by importers and car owners who simply don't know or understand the situation in Japan. The high taxes (annually assessed), insurance premiums, gas costs, and especially the safety inspection/registration (occurs biennial) combine to keep turnover of vehicles high.
