I can't see it harming anything as you won't be going over 4k rpm anyway in breaking the car in if you're following the manual. I could be totally wrong, but if I got an intake I would just pop that sucker on.

Break in procedures are good to follow... you're breaking in your engine. A CAI will not harm your vehicle (unless you take your G diving ). Coilovers, exhaust, etc... should all be fine IF you keep your rpms varied and below the manufacturers recommended amounts.

Just a FYI...

Somwhere in this forum is a great article on break-in. Search for it and read it. Definitely informative...

The summary of it is you are suppose to push your engine during break in...

JAMNG35,

Yeah I read that thread and the links it referenced. The link referenced was pertaining to motorcycle engines, not the VQ35DE. I'd rather follow Infiniti's recommended break-in schedule since they designed the engine. I "think" that's the safest thing to do... that's why I recommended it.

FYI, this is the first car that I've ever broken in (the others I ragged on from day one) and I've kept every car that I've ever owned for 6 or more years...

1985 Dodge 600, 102,000 miles
1992 Saturn SL1, 164,000 miles
1998 Honda Accord EX-V6, 96,000 miles
2004.5 Infiniti G35C-6MT, 8900 miles and going strong...

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

i'd be tempted to take the car over 4k to hear the intake.
