Exclamation Excuse my noobery

I've had my 05 6mt coupe for about 6 months now and its great except for a few (hopefully) minor issues. I have done some searching but haven't really found what i'm looking for. First, I noticed a clanking sound coming from my engine the past few days and guessed it was an oil problem. I was right. I got the oil changed 2500 miles ago and when I checked the level today, I couldn't even get a reading. I added 3 quarts and the level is about midway on the dipstick now. This seems like the dreaded OC issue i have heard of, what do you think? What should I do about it?

Second, the guy I bought the car from added some mods like a stillen CAI, highflow cats, plenum and z tube. The car seems to be running rich because of this. The pipes are covered in suit (sp?) and I have noticed some white smoke coming out when I rev the engine. What can I do to remedy this problem?

Finally there is the clutch. It is aftermarket and becomes sticky sometimes (only comes back up halfway or so) which is super annoying. I haved changed the fluid a few times and it doesn't seem to help. What can I do? Thats all for now. Thanks guys!

White smoke means prestone. Maybe a blow head gasket. Normally your car should still be on warranty by the dealership so drop by and ask them. They'll do an oil consumption test and if it does drink more that a quart per 1000 miles it will most probably be replaced.

The OC test is free so do that for sure. They might be reluctant since you have a lot of aftermarket engine parts.

The white smoke could also be from the HFCs, if it passes the OC test, I recommend getting the car tuned, not only will it give you some serious power but it will tune the car properly for those mods and change how the car handles them. (richness if you will)

If you still have a warranty take it in to your local Infiniti dealership, you don't have enough mods to worry about since none of them will cause OC. In the past the clutch issue you're describing is caused by the hydraulic clutch cylinder, replaced it twice in my last Z....G/L

Sounds like the cats are causing the smoke. The OC issue needs to be checked out at the dealer and last it sounds like you need a clutch. Good luck with the repairs. But also as mentioned in one of the above posts go get the car tuned.

OC could be a blown HG or maybe a blown ring..i had the same prob on my 05..white smoke could be from running rich, dude prob didnt get a tune after installing the aftermarket parts,as small as those parts are it seems most of them have to due with A/F

Thanks for the replies guys! So I guess I'll take it to the dealership and get the oc test done, then see about getting it tuned. Can the tune be done by the dealership?

No you're going to need to find a performance shop that deals with companies like Uprev. Look in your regional forum, I am sure there is lot of places in Florida.

I wouldn't be too concerned about a tune until you find out why you're using all that oil along with the clutch issue. Put the tune on the back burner for now....
